Daniel 66:1 It pleased <G 8232> Darius <G 1868> to set <G 3966> over <G 5922> the kingdom <G 4437> an hundred <G 3969> and twenty <G 6243> princes <G 0324>, which <G 1768> should be over the whole <G 3606> kingdom <G 4437>; 6:2 And over <G 5924> these <G 4481> three <G 8532> presidents <G 5632>; of whom Daniel <G 1841> [was] first <G 2298>: that the princes <G 0324> might give <G 3052> accounts <G 2941> unto them, and the king <G 4430> should have <G 1934> no <G 3809> damage <G 5142>. 6:3 Then <G 0116> this <G 1836> Daniel <G 1841> was preferred <G 5330> above <G 5922> the presidents <G 5632> and princes <G 0324>, because an excellent <G 3493> spirit <G 7308> [was] in him; and the king <G 4430> thought <G 6246> to set <G 3966> him over <G 5922> the whole <G 3606> realm <G 4437>. 6:4 Then <G 0116> the presidents <G 5632> and princes <G 0324> sought <G 1158> to find <G 7912> occasion <G 5931> against Daniel <G 1841> concerning <G 6655> the kingdom <G 4437>; but they could <G 3202> find <G 7912> none <G 3809> occasion <G 5931> nor <G 3809> fault <G 7844>; forasmuch as he [was] faithful <G 0540>, neither <G 3809> was there any < G 3606> error <G 7960> or fault <G 7844> found <G 7912> in him. 6:5 Then <G 0116> said <G 0560> these <G 0479> men <G 1400>, We shall not find <G 7912> any <G 3606> occasion <G 5931> against <G 5922> this <G 1836> Daniel <G 1841>, except <G 3861> we find <G 7912> [it] against him concerning the law <G 1882> of his God <G 0426>. 6:6 Then <G 0116> these <G 0459> presidents <G 5632> and princes <G 0324> assembled <G 7284> together to the king < G 4430>, and said <G 0560> thus <G 3652> unto him, King <G 4430> Darius <G 1868>, live <G 2414> for ever <G 5757>. 6:7 All <G 3606> the presidents <G 5632> of the kingdom <G 4437>, the governors <G 5461>, and the princes <G 0324>, the counsellors <G 1907>, and the captains <G 6347>, have consulted <G 3272> together to establish <G 6966> a royal <G 4430> statute <G 7010>, and to make a firm <G 8631> decree <G 0633>, that whosoever <G 3605> shall ask <G 1156> a petition < G 1159> of any <G 3606> God <G 0426> or man <G 0606> for thirty <G 8533> days <G 3118>, save <G 3861> of thee, O king <G 4430> , he shall be cast <G 7412> into the den <G 1358> of lions <G 0744>. 6:8 Now <G 3705>, O king <G 4430>, establish <G 6966> the decree <G 0633>, and sign <G 7560> the writing <G 3792> , that it be not changed <G 8133>, according to the law <G 1882> of the Medes <G 4076> and Persians <G 6540>, which <G 1768> altereth <G 5709> not. 6:9 Wherefore king <G 4430> Darius <G 1868> signed <G 7560> the writing <G 3792> and the decree <G 0633>. 6:10 Now <G 1768> when <G 1768> Daniel <G 1841> knew <G 3046> that the writing <G 3792> was signed <G 7560>, he went <G 5954> into his house <G 1005>; and his windows <G 3551> being open <G 6606> in his chamber <G 5952> toward <G 5049> Jerusalem <G 3390>, he kneeled <G 1289> upon his knees <G 1291> three <G 8532> times <G 2166> a day <G 3118>, and prayed <G 6739>, and gave thanks <G 3029> before <G 6925> his God <G 0426> , as he did <G 5648> aforetime. 6:11 Then <G 0116> these <G 0479> men <G 1400> assembled <G 7284>, and found <G 7912> Daniel <G 1841> praying <G 1156> and making supplication <G 2604> before <G 6925> his God <G 0426>. 6:12 Then <G 0116> they came <G 7127> near <G 7127>, and spake <G 0560> before <G 6925> the king <G 4430> concerning <G 5922> the king's <G 4430> decree <G 0633>; Hast thou not signed <G 7560> a decree <G 0633>, that every <G 3606> man <G 0606> that shall ask <G 1156> [a petition] of any <G 3606> God <G 0426> or man <G 0606> within <G 5705> thirty <G 8533> days <G 3118>, save <G 3861> of thee, O king <G 4430>, shall be cast < G 7412> into the den <G 1358> of lions <G 0744>? The king <G 4430> answered <G 6032> and said <G 0560>, The thing <G 4406> [is] true <G 3330>, according to the law <G 1882> of the Medes <G 4076> and Persians <G 6540>, which <G 1768> altereth <G 5709> not. 6:13 Then <G 0116> answered <G 6032> they and said <G 0560> before <G 6925> the king <G 4430>, That Daniel <G 1841>, which <G 1768> [is] of the children <G 1123> of the captivity <G 1547> of Judah <G 3061>, regardeth not thee, O king <G 4430> , nor the decree <G 0633> that thou hast signed <G 7560>, but maketh his petition <G 1159> three <G 8532> times <G 2166> a day <G 3118>. 6:14 Then <G 0116> the king <G 4430>, when <G 1768> he heard <G 8086> [these] words <G 4406>, was sore <G 7690> displeased <G 0888> with himself, and set <G 7761> [his] heart <G 1079> on <G 5922> Daniel <G 1841> to deliver <G 7804> him: and he laboured <G 7712> till <G 5704> the going <G 4606> down <G 4606> of the sun <G 8122> to deliver <G 5338> him. 6:15 Then <G 0116> these <G 0479> men <G 1400> assembled <G 7284> unto the king <G 4430>, and said <G 0560> unto the king <G 4430>, Know <G 3046>, O king <G 4430>, that the law <G 1882> of the Medes <G 4076> and Persians <G 6540> [is], That no decree <G 0633> nor statute <G 7010> which <G 1768> the king <G 4430> establisheth <G 6966> may be changed <G 8133>. 6:16 Then <G 0116> the king <G 4430> commanded <G 0560>, and they brought <G 0858> Daniel <G 1841>, and cast <G 7412> [him] into the den <G 1358> of lions <G 0744>. [Now <G 0116>] the king <G 4430> spake <G 6032> and said <G 0560> unto Daniel <G 1841>, Thy God <G 0426> whom <G 1768> thou servest <G 6399> continually <G 8411>, he will deliver <G 7804> thee. 6:17 And a stone <G 69> was brought <G 0858>, and laid <G 7760> upon the mouth <G 6433> of the den <G 1358>; and the king <G 4430> sealed <G 2857> it with his own signet <G 5824>, and with the signet <G 5824> of his lords <G 7261>; that the purpose <G 6640> might not be changed <G 8133> concerning Daniel <G 1841>. 6:18 Then <G 0116> the king <G 4430> went <G 0236> to his palace <G 1965>, and passed the night <G 0956> fasting <G 2908>: neither <G 3809> were instruments <G 1761> of musick brought <G 5954> before <G 6925> him: and his sleep <G 8139> went <G 5075> from him. 6:19 Then <G 0116> the king <G 4430> arose <G 6966> very early <G 8238> in the morning <G 5053>, and went <G 0236> in haste <G 0927> unto the den <G 1358> of lions <G 0744>. 6:20 And when he came <G 7127> to the den <G 1358>, he cried <G 2200> with a lamentable <G 6088> voice <G 7032> unto Daniel <G 1841>: [and] the king <G 4430> spake <G 6032> and said <G 0560> to Daniel <G 1841>, O Daniel <G 1841>, servant <G 5649> of the living <G 2417> God <G 0426>, is thy God <G 0426>, whom <G 1768> thou servest <G 6399> continually <G 8411>, able < G 3202> to deliver <G 7804> thee from the lions <G 0744>? 6:21 Then <G 0116> said <G 4449> Daniel <G 1841> unto the king <G 4430>, O king <G 4430>, live <G 2414> for ever <G 5957>. 6:22 My God <G 0426> hath sent <G 7972> his angel < G 4398>, and hath shut <G 5463> the lions <G 0744>' mouths <G 6433>, that they have not hurt <G 2255> me: forasmuch as before <G 6925> him innocency <G 2136> was found <G 7912> in me; and also <G 0638> before <G 6925> thee, O king <G 4430>, have I done <G 5648> no <G 3809> hurt <G 2248>. 6:23 Then <G 0116> was the king <G 4430> exceeding <G 7689> glad <G 2868> for him, and commanded <G 0560> that they should take <G 5267> Daniel <G 1841> up out of the den <G 1358>. So Daniel <G 1841> was taken <G 5267> up out of the den <G 1358>, and no manner of hurt <G 2257> was found <G 7912> upon him, because <G 1768> he believed <G 0540> in his God <G 0426>. 6:24 And the king <G 4430> commanded <G 0560>, and they brought <G 0858> those <G 0479> men <G 1400> which < G 1768> had accused <G 7170> Daniel <G 1841>, and they cast <G 7412> [them] into the den <G 1358> of lions <G 0744>, them, their children <G 1123>, and their wives <G 5389>; and the lions <G 0744> had the mastery <G 6981> of them, and brake <G 1855> all <G 3606> their bones <G 1635> in pieces or ever <G 3809> they came <G 4291> at the bottom <G 0773> of the den <G 1358>. 6:25 Then <G 0116> king <G 4430> Darius <G 1868> wrote <G 3790> unto all <G 3606> people <G 5972>, nations <G 0524>, and languages <G 3961>, that dwell <G 1753> in all <G 3606> the earth <G 0772>; Peace <G 8001> be multiplied <G 7680> unto you. 6:26 I make <G 7761> a decree <G 2942>, That in every <G 3606> dominion <G 7985> of my kingdom <G 4437> men tremble <G 2112> and fear <G 1763> before the God <G 0426> of Daniel <G 1841>: for he [is] the living <G 2417> God <G 0426>, and stedfast <G 7011> for ever <G 5957>, and his kingdom <G 4437> [that] which <G 1768> shall not be destroyed <G 2255>, and his dominion <G 7985> [shall be even] unto the end <G 5491>. 6:27 He delivereth <G 7804> and rescueth <G 5338>, and he worketh <G 5648> signs <G 0852> and wonders <G 8540> in heaven <G 8065> and in earth <G 0772>, who <G 1768> hath delivered <G 7804> Daniel <G 1841> from the power <G 3028> of the lions <G 0744>. 6:28 So this <G 1836> Daniel <G 1841> prospered <G 6744> in the reign <G 4437> of Darius <G 1868>, and in the reign <G 4437> of Cyrus <G 3567> the Persian <G 6523>. |
