9 In the same <1931 huw> > day <3117 yowm > also will I punish

10 And it shall come <1961 hayah > to pass in that day < 3117
yowm >, saith <5002 n@>um > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah >, [that

from the fish <1709 dag > gate <8179 sha<ar >, and an howling

11 Howl <3213 yalal >, ye inhabitants <3427 yashab > of Maktesh
<4389 Maktesh >, for all <3605 kol > the merchant < 3667 K@na<an
> people <5971 <am > are cut <1820 damah > down; all <3605 kol >
they that bear <5187 n@tiyl > silver <3701 keceph > are cut
<3772 karath > off.

12 And it shall come <1961 hayah > to pass at that time <6256
<eth >, [that] I will search <2664 chaphas > Jerusalem <3389
Y@ruwshalaim > with candles <5216 niyr >, and punish < 6485 paqad

bayith > a desolation <8047 shammah >: they shall also build

yashab > [them]; and they shall plant <5193 nata< > vineyards

5 Woe <1945 howy > unto the inhabitants <3427 yashab > of the
sea <3220 yam > coast <2256 chebel >, the nation < 1471 gowy > of
the Cherethites <3774 K@rethiy >! the word <1697 dabar > of the
LORD <3068 Y@hovah > [is] against <5921 <al > you; O Canaan

7 And the coast <2256 chebel > shall be for the remnant <7611

kiy > Moab <4124 Mow>ab > shall be as Sodom <5467 C@dom >, and
the children <1121 ben > of Ammon <5983 <Ammown > as Gomorrah

12. Ye Ethiopians <3569 Kuwshiy > also <1571 gam >, ye [shall

13 And he will stretch <5186 natah > out his hand <3027 yad >
against <5921 <al > the north <6828 tsaphown >, and destroy <6>
Assyria <0804 >Ashshuwr >; and will make <7760 suwm > Nineveh
<5210 Niyn@veh > a desolation <8077 sh@mamah >, [and] dry <6723
tsiyah > like a wilderness <4057 midbar >.

14 And flocks <5739 <eder > shall lie <7257 rabats > down <7257
rabats > in the midst <8432 tavek > of her, all <3605 kol > the
beasts <2416 chay > of the nations <1471 gowy >: both <1571 gam
> the cormorant <6893 qa>ath > and the bittern < 7090 qippowd >

Zephaniah 3

1. Woe <1945 howy > to her that is filthy <4754 mara> > and
polluted <1351 ga>al >, to the oppressing <3238 yanah > city

2 She obeyed <8085 shama< > not the voice <6963 qowl >; she
received <3947 laqach > not correction <4148 muwcar >; she
trusted <0982 batach > not in the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > ; she drew
not near <7126 qarab > to her God <0430 >elohiym >.

3 Her princes <8269 sar > within <7130 qereb > her [are]
roaring lions <0738 >ariy >; her judges <8199 shaphat > [are]
evening <6153 <ereb > wolves <2061 z@>eb >; they gnaw <1633
garam > not the bones <1633 garam > till the morrow < 1242 boqer

4 Her prophets <5030 nabiy> > [are] light <6348 pachaz > [and]

towers <6438 pinnah > are desolate <8074 shamem >; I made their

b@liy > passeth <5674 <abar > by: their cities < 5892 <iyr > are
destroyed <6658 tsadah >, so that there is no <1097 b@liy > man

7 I said <0559 >amar >, Surely thou wilt fear <3372 yare> > me,
thou wilt receive <3947 laqach > instruction <4148 muwcar >; so
their dwelling <4583 ma<own > should not be cut <3772 karath >
off, howsoever I punished <6485 paqad > them: but they rose
<7925 shakam > early <7925 shakam >, [and] corrupted <7843

11 In that day <3117 yowm > shalt thou not be ashamed < 0954

13 The remnant <7611 sh@>eriyth > of Israel <3478 Yisra>el >
shall not do <6213 <asah > iniquity <5766 <evel >, nor <3808 lo>

shall a deceitful <8649 tormah > tongue <3956 lashown > be found

Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >.

15 The LORD <3068 Y@hovah > hath taken <5493 cuwr > away <5493
cuwr > thy judgments <4941 mishpat >, he hath cast < 6437 panah >
out thine enemy <0341 >oyeb >: the king <4428 melek > of Israel
<3478 Yisra>el >, [even] the LORD <3068 Y@hovah >, [is] in the

Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >, Fear <3372 yare> > thou not:

and I will save <3467 yasha< > her that halteth <6761 tsela< >,
and gather <6908 qabats > her that was driven <5080 nadach > out;

they have been put to shame <1322 bosheth >.

[again], even in the time <6256 <eth > that I gather < 6908
