1Thessalonians 2

1. For yourselves <0846-autos->, brethren <0080-adephos- >, know
<1492-eido-> our entrance <1529-eisodos-> in unto you, that it
was not in vain <2756-kenos->:

2 But even <2532-kai-> after that we had suffered <4310-
propascho-> before <4310-propascho->, and were shamefully <5195-
hubrizo-> entreated <5195-hubrizo->, as ye know <1492- eido->, at
<1722-en-> Philippi <5375-Philippoi->, we were bold <3955-

3 For our exhortation <3874-paraklesis-> [was] not of deceit

4 But as we were allowed <1381-dokimazo-> of God <2316- theos->

not as pleasing <0700-aresko-> men <0444-anthropos->, but God

6 Nor <3777-oute-> of men <0444-anthropos-> sought <2212-zeteo-
> we glory <1391-doxa->, neither <3777-oute-> of you, nor <3777-

dunamai-> have been burdensome <0922-baros->, as the apostles

7. But we were gentle <2261-epios-> among <3319-mesos- > you,
even as a nurse <5162-trophos-> cherisheth <2282-thalpo- > her

8 So <3779-houto-> being affectionately <2442- himeiromai->
desirous <2442-himeiromai-> of you, we were willing < 2106-
eudokeo-> to have imparted <3330-metadidomi-> unto you, not the

because <4314-pros-> we would not be chargeable <1912- epibareo-

10 Ye [are] witnesses <3144-martus->, and God <2316- theos->

justly <1346-dikaios-> and unblameably <0274-amemptos- > we
behaved <1096-ginomai-> ourselves among you that believe <4100-
pisteuo->:

11 As ye know <1492-eido-> how <5613-hos-> we exhorted and
comforted <3888-paramutheomai-> and charged <3146- mastigoo->
every <1538-hekastos-> one <1520-heis-> of you, as a father

12 That ye would walk <4043-peripateo-> worthy <0516- axios-> of

when ye received <3880-paralambano-> the word <3056- logos-> of

idios-> prophets <4396-prophetes->, and have persecuted <1559-
ekdioko-> us; and they please <0700-aresko-> not God < 2316-theos-
>, and are contrary <1727-enantios-> to all <3956-pas- > men

16 Forbidding <2967-koluo-> us to speak <2980-laleo-> to the
Gentiles <1484-ethnos-> that they might be saved <4982- sozo->,
to fill <0378-anapleroo-> up their sins <0266-hamartia- > alway
<0104-aei->: for the wrath <3709-orge-> is come < 5348-phthano->
upon them to the uttermost <5056-telos->.

17. But we, brethren <0080-adephos->, being taken <0642-
aporphanizo-> from you for a short <5610-hora-> time < 2540-
kairos-> in presence <4383-prosopon->, not in heart < 2588-kardia-
>, endeavoured <4704-spoudazo-> the more <4056- perissoteros->

Satanas-> hindered <1465-egkopto-> us.

19 For what <5101-tis-> [is] our hope <1680-elpis->, or <2228-e-
> joy <5479-chara->, or <2228-e-> crown <4735- stephanos-> of
rejoicing <2746-kauchesis->? [Are] not even <2532-kai- > ye in

20 For ye are our glory <1391-doxa-> and joy <5479- chara->.

1Thessalonians 3

1. Wherefore <1352-dio-> when we could no <3371-meketi- > longer
<3371-meketi-> forbear <4722-stego->, we thought < 2106-eudokeo->
it good <2106-eudokeo-> to be left <2641-kataleipo-> at <1722-en-
> Athens <0116-Athenai-> alone <3441-monos->;

2 And sent <3992-pempo-> Timotheus <5095-Timotheos->, our
brother <0080-adephos->, and minister <1249-diakonos-> of God
<2316-theos->, and our fellowlabourer <4904-sunergos-> in the
gospel <2098-euaggelion-> of Christ <5547-Christos->, to

3 That no <3367-medeis-> man <3367-medeis-> should be moved

4 For verily <2532-kai->, when <3753-hote-> we were with you,

12 And the Lord <2962-kurios-> make <4121-pleonazo-> you to
increase <4121-pleonazo-> and abound <4052-perisseuo-> in love

1. Furthermore <3063-loipon-> then <3767-oun-> we beseech <2065-
erotao-> you, brethren <0080-adephos->, and exhort < 3870-
parakaleo-> [you] by the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus < 2424-Iesous-
>, that as ye have received <3880-paralambano-> of us how <4459-
pos-> ye ought <1163-dei-> to walk <4043-peripateo- > and to

8 He therefore <5105-toigaroun-> that despiseth <0114- atheteo->,
despiseth <0114-atheteo-> not man <0444-anthropos->, but God
<2316-theos->, who <3588-ho-> hath also <2532-kai- > given <1325-
didomi-> unto us his holy <0040-hagios-> Spirit <4151- pneuma->.

9. But as touching <4012-peri-> brotherly <5360- philadelphia->
love <5360-philadelphia-> ye need <5532-chreia-> not that I
write <1125-grapho-> unto you: for ye yourselves <0846- autos->

mallon->;

11 And that ye study <5389-philotimeomai-> to be quiet < 2270-
hesuchazo->, and to do <4238-prasso-> your <2398- idios-> own
<2398-idios-> business <2398-idios->, and to work < 2038-
ergazomai-> with your <2398-idios-> own <2398-idios- > hands
<5495-cheir->, as we commanded <3853-paraggello-> you;

12 That ye may walk <4043-peripateo-> honestly <2156-
euschemonos-> toward <4314-pros-> them that are without <1854-
exo->, and [that] ye may have <2192-echo-> lack <5332- pharmakeus-
> of nothing <3367-medeis->.

13. But I would <2309-thelo-> not have you to be ignorant <0050-
agnoeo->, brethren <0080-adephos->, concerning <4012- peri-> them
which are asleep <2837-koimao->, that ye sorrow <3076- lupeo->
not, even <2532-kai-> as others <3062-loipoy-> which <3588-ho->
have <2192-echo-> no <3361-me-> hope <1680-elpis- >.

14 For if <1487-ei-> we believe <4100-pisteuo-> that Jesus
<2424-Iesous-> died <0599-apothnesko-> and rose < 0450-anistemi->
again <0450-anistemi->, even so <3779-houto-> them also <2532-
kai-> which sleep <2837-koimao-> in Jesus <2424- Iesous-> will
God <2316-theos-> bring <0071-ago-> with him.

15 For this <5124-touto-> we say <3004-lego-> unto you by the
word <3056-logos-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->, that we which
<3588-ho-> are alive <2198-zao-> [and] remain < 4035-perileipo->
unto the coming <3952-parousia-> of the Lord <2962- kurios->
shall not prevent <5348-phthano-> them which <3588-ho- > are
asleep <2837-koimao->.

16 For the Lord <2962-kurios-> himself <0846-autos-> shall
descend <2597-katabaino-> from heaven <3772-ouranos-> with a
shout <2752-keleuma->, with the voice <5456-phone-> of the
archangel <0743-archaggelos->, and with the trump <4536- salpigx-
> of God <2316-theos->: and the dead <3498-nekros-> in Christ
<5547-Christos-> shall rise <0450-anistemi-> first <4412-proton-
>:

17 Then <1899-epeita-> we which <3588-ho-> are alive <2198-zao-
> [and] remain <4035-perileipo-> shall be caught < 0726-harpazo->
up together <0260-hama-> with them in the clouds <3507- nephele->,
to meet <0529-apantesis-> the Lord <2962-kurios-> in the air
<0109-aer->: and so <3779-houto-> shall we ever < 3842-pantote->
be with the Lord <2962-kurios->.

18 Wherefore <5620-hoste-> comfort <3870-parakaleo-> one <0240-
allelon-> another <0240-allelon-> with these <5125- toutois->
words <3056-logos->.

1. But of the times <2540-kairos-> and the seasons < 2540-kairos-
>, brethren <0080-adephos->, ye have <2192-echo-> no <3756-ou->
need <5532-chreia-> that I write <1125-grapho-> unto you.

2 For yourselves <0846-autos-> know <1492-eido-> perfectly
<0199-akribos-> that the day <2250-hemera-> of the Lord <2962-
kurios-> so <3779-houto-> cometh <2064-erchomai-> as a thief
<2812-kleptes-> in the night <3571-nux->.

3 For when <3752-hotan-> they shall say <3004-lego->, Peace
<1515-eirene-> and safety <0803-asphaleia->; then < 5119-tote->
sudden <0160-aiphnidios-> destruction <3639-olethros-> cometh
<2186-ephistemi-> upon them, as travail <5604-odin-- Ozias-> upon
a woman with child <1064-gaster->; and they shall not escape

4 But ye, brethren <0080-adephos->, are not in darkness <4655-
skotos->, that that day <2250-hemera-> should overtake <2638-
katalambano-> you as a thief <2812-kleptes->.

5 Ye are all <3956-pas-> the children <5207-huios-> of light
<5457-phos->, and the children <5207-huios-> of the day <2250-
hemera->: we are not of the night <3571-nux->, nor < 3761-oude->
of darkness <4655-skotos->.

6. Therefore <3767-oun-> let us not sleep <2518- katheudo->, as
[do] others <3062-loipoy->; but let us watch <1127- gregoreuo->
and be sober <3525-nepho->.

7 For they that sleep <2518-katheudo-> sleep <2518- katheudo->
in the night <3571-nux->; and they that be drunken <3184- methuo-
> are drunken <3184-methuo-> in the night <3571-nux- >.

8 But let us, who <3588-ho-> are of the day <2250- hemera->, be
sober <3525-nepho->, putting <1746-enduo-> on < 1746-enduo-> the
breastplate <2382-thorax-> of faith <4102-pistis-> and love
<0026-agape->; and for an helmet <4030-perikephalaia-> , the hope

9 For God <2316-theos-> hath not appointed <5087- tithemi-> us
to wrath <3709-orge->, but to obtain <4047-peripoiesis- >
salvation <4991-soteria-> by our Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424-
Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos->,

10 Who <3588-ho-> died <0599-apothnesko-> for us, that, whether
<1535-eite-> we wake <1127-gregoreuo-> or <1535- eite-> sleep
<2518-katheudo->, we should live <2198-zao-> together <0260-hama-
> with him.

11. Wherefore <1352-dio-> comfort <3870-parakaleo-> yourselves
<0240-allelon-> together <0240-allelon->, and edify <3618-
oikodomeo-> one <1520-heis-> another <1520-heis->, even <2531-
kathos-> as also <2532-kai-> ye do <4160-poieo->.
