Titus 1

2 In hope <1680-elpis-> of eternal <0166-aionios-> life <2222-

4 To Titus <5103-Titos->, [mine] own <1103-gnesios-> son <5043-
teknon-> after <2596-kata-> the common <2839-koinos- > faith
<4102-pistis->: Grace <5485-charis->, mercy <1656- eleos->, [and]
peace <1515-eirene->, from God <2316-theos-> the Father <3962-
pater-> and the Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus <2424- Iesous-> Christ
<5547-Christos-> our Saviour <4990-soter->.

5. For this <5127-toutou-> cause <5484-charin-> left <2641-
kataleipo-> I thee in Crete <2914-Krete->, that thou shouldest
set <1930-epidiorthoo-> in order <1930-epidiorthoo-> the things
that are wanting <3007-leipo->, and ordain <2525- kathistemi->

orgilos-> angry <3711-orgilos->, not given <3943- paroinos-> to

8 But a lover <5382-philoxenos-> of hospitality <5382-
philoxenos->, a lover <5358-philagathos-> of good < 5358-
philagathos-> men, sober <4998-sophron->, just <1342- dikaios->,
holy <3741-hosios->, temperate <1468-egkrates->;

9 Holding <0472-antechomai-> fast <0472-antechomai-> the
faithful <4103-pistos-> word <3056-logos-> as he hath been
taught <1322-didache->, that he may be able <1415- dunatos-> by
sound <5198-hugiaino-> doctrine <1319-didaskalia-> both <2532-
kai-> to exhort <3870-parakaleo-> and to convince < 1651-elegcho-

10 For there are many <4183-polus-> unruly <0506- anupotaktos->
and vain <3151-mataiologos-> talkers <3151-mataiologos- > and
deceivers <5423-phrenapates->, specially <3122-malista- > they of
the circumcision <4061-peritome->:

11 Whose <3739-hos-> mouths <1993-epistomizo-> must <1163-dei->
be stopped <1993-epistomizo->, who <3748-hostis-> subvert <0396-
anatrepo-> whole <3650-holos-> houses <3624-oikos-> , teaching
<1321-didasko-> things which <3739-hos-> they ought <1163-dei->
not, for filthy <0150-aischros-> lucre's <2771-kerdos- > sake.

12 One <5100-tis-> of themselves <0846-autos->, [even] a
prophet <4396-prophetes-> of their own <2398-idios->, said <2036-
epo->, The Cretians <2912-Kres-> [are] alway <0104- aei-> liars
<5583-pseustes->, evil <2556-kakos-> beasts <2342- therion->,
slow <0692-argos-> bellies <1064-gaster->.

13 This <3778-houtos-> witness <3141-marturia-> is true <0227-
alethes->. Wherefore <3739-hos-> rebuke <1651-elegcho- > them
sharply <0664-apotomos->, that they may be sound <5198- hugiaino-
> in the faith <4102-pistis->;

14 Not giving heed <4337-prosecho-> to Jewish <2451- Ioudaikos->
fables <3454-muthos->, and commandments <1785-entole-> of men
<0444-anthropos->, that turn <0654-apostrepho-> from the truth
<0225-aletheia->.

15 Unto the pure <2513-katharos-> all <3956-pas-> things [are]
pure <2513-katharos->: but unto them that are defiled < 3392-
miaino-> and unbelieving <0571-apistos-> [is] nothing <3762-
oudeis-> pure <2513-katharos->; but even <2532-kai- > their mind
<3563-nous-> and conscience <4893-suneidesis-> is defiled <3392-
miaino->.

16 They profess <3670-homologeo-> that they know <1492- eido->
God <2316-theos->; but in works <2041-ergon-> they deny <0720-
arneomai-> [him], being <5607-on-> abominable <0947- bdeluktos->,
and disobedient <0545-apeithes->, and unto every <3956- pas->
good <0018-agathos-> work <2041-ergon-> reprobate < 0096-adokimos-
>.

Titus 2

1. But speak <2980-laleo-> thou the things which <3739- hos->
become <4241-prepo-> sound <5198-hugiaino-> doctrine <1319-
didaskalia->:

2 That the aged <4246-presbutes-> men be sober <3524- nephaleos-
>, grave <4586-semnos->, temperate <4998-sophron->, sound <5198-
hugiaino-> in faith <4102-pistis->, in charity <0026- agape->, in
patience <5281-hupomone->.

3 The aged <4247-presbutis-> women <4247-presbutis-> likewise
<5615-hosautos->, that [they be] in behaviour <2688- katastema->
as becometh <2412-hieroprepes-> holiness <2412- hieroprepes->,
not false <1228-diabolos-> accusers <1228-diabolos->, not given
<1402-douloo-> to much <4183-polus-> wine <3631- oinos->,
teachers <2567-kalodidaskalos-> of good <2567- kalodidaskalos->
things;

4 That they may teach <4994-sophronizo-> the young < 3501-neos->
women to be sober <4994-sophronizo->, to love <5362- philandros->

5 [To be] discreet <4998-sophron->, chaste <0053-hagnos- >,

9 [Exhort] servants <1401-doulos-> to be obedient <5293-
hupotasso-> unto their own <2398-idios-> masters < 1203-despotes-
>, [and] to please <1511-einai-> [them] well <2101- euarestos->
in all <3956-pas-> [things]; not answering <0488- antimetreo->
again <0483-antilego->;

10 Not purloining <3557-nosphizomai->, but shewing < 1731-
endeiknumi-> all <3956-pas-> good <0018-agathos-> fidelity <4102-
pistis->; that they may adorn <2885-kosmeo-> the doctrine <1319-
didaskalia-> of God <2316-theos-> our Saviour <4990- soter-> in
all <3956-pas-> things.

11. For the grace <5485-charis-> of God <2316-theos-> that
bringeth <4992-soterion-> salvation <4992-soterion-> hath
appeared <2014-epiphaino-> to all <3956-pas-> men < 0444-
anthropos->,

12 Teaching <3811-paideuo-> us that, denying <0720- arneomai->
ungodliness <0763-asebeia-> and worldly <2886-kosmikos- > lusts
<1939-epithumia->, we should live <2198-zao-> soberly <4996-
sophronos->, righteously <1346-dikaios->, and godly < 2153-

13 Looking <4327-prosdechomai-> for that blessed <3107- makarios-
> hope <1680-elpis->, and the glorious <1391-doxa-> appearing
<2015-epiphaneia-> of the great <3173-megas-> God < 2316-theos->
and our Saviour <4990-soter-> Jesus <2424-Iesous-> Christ <5547-
Christos->;

14 Who <3739-hos-> gave <1325-didomi-> himself < 1438-heautou->
for us, that he might redeem <3084-lutroo-> us from all < 3956-
pas-> iniquity <0458-anomia->, and purify <2511- katharizo-> unto
himself <1438-heautou-> a peculiar <4041-periousios-> people

15. These <5023-tauta-> things speak <2980-laleo->, and exhort

Titus 3

1. Put <5279-hupomimnesko-> them in mind <5279- hupomimnesko->
to be subject <5293-hupotasso-> to principalities <0746- arche->
and powers <1849-exousia->, to obey <3980-peitharcheo- >
magistrates <3980-peitharcheo->, to be ready <2092- hetoimos-> to
every <3956-pas-> good <0018-agathos-> work <2041- ergon->,

2 To speak <0987-blasphemeo-> evil <0987-blasphemeo-> of no
<3367-medeis-> man <3367-medeis->, to be no <0269- amachos->
brawlers <0269-amachos->, [but] gentle <1933-epieikes- >, shewing
<1731-endeiknumi-> all <3956-pas-> meekness <4236- praiotes->
unto all <3956-pas-> men <0444-anthropos->.

3 For we ourselves <2249-hemeis-> also <2532-kai-> were
sometimes <4218-pote-> foolish <0453-anoetos->, disobedient
<0545-apeithes->, deceived <4105-planao->, serving <1398-douleuo-
> divers <4164-poikilos-> lusts <1939-epithumia-> and pleasures

4 But after <3753-hote-> that the kindness <5544- chrestotes->
and love <5363-philanthropia-> of God <2316-theos-> our Saviour
<4990-soter-> toward <4314-pros-> man appeared < 2014-epiphaino->,

5 Not by works <2041-ergon-> of righteousness <1343- dikaiosune-
> which <3739-hos-> we have done <4160-poieo->, but according
<2596-kata-> to his mercy <1656-eleos-> he saved < 4982-sozo-> us,
by the washing <3067-loutron-> of regeneration <3824-
paliggenesia->, and renewing <0342-anakainosis-> of the Holy
<0040-hagios-> Ghost <4151-pneuma->;

6 Which <3739-hos-> he shed <1632-ekcheo-> on < 1909-epi-> us
abundantly <4146-plousios-> through <1223-dia-> Jesus <2424-
Iesous-> Christ <5547-Christos-> our Saviour <4990- soter->;

7 That being justified <1344-dikaioo-> by his grace < 5485-
charis->, we should be made <1096-ginomai-> heirs < 2818-
kleronomos-> according <2596-kata-> to the hope <1680- elpis-> of
eternal <0166-aionios-> life <2222-zoe->.

8 [This <3588-ho-> is] a faithful <4103-pistos-> saying <3056-
logos->, and these <5130-touton-> things I will <1014- boo-lom-
ahee-> that thou affirm <1226-diabebaioomai-> constantly <1226-
diabebaioomai->, that they which have believed <4100- pisteuo->
in God <2316-theos-> might be careful <5431-phrontizo- > to
maintain <4291-proistemi-> good <2570-kalos-> works <2041-ergon-
>. These <5023-tauta-> things are good <2570-kalos- > and
profitable <5624-ophelimos-> unto men <0444-anthropos- >.

9. But avoid <4026-periistemi-> foolish <3474-moros-> questions
<2214-zetesis->, and genealogies <1076-genealogia->, and
contentions <2054-eris->, and strivings <3163-mache-> about
<3163-mache-> the law <3544-nomikos->; for they are unprofitable
<0512-anopheles-> and vain <3152-mataios->.

10 A man <0444-anthropos-> that is an heretick <0141- hairetikos-
> after <3326-meta-> the first <3391-mia-> and second <1208-
deuteros-> admonition <3559-nouthesia-> reject <3868- paraiteomai-
>;

11 Knowing <1492-eido-> that he that is such <5108- toioutos->
is subverted <1612-ekstrepho->, and sinneth <0264- hamartano->,
being <5607-on-> condemned <0843-autokatakritos-> of himself
<0843-autokatakritos->.

12 When <3752-hotan-> I shall send <3992-pempo-> Artemas <0734-
Artemas-> unto thee, or <2228-e-> Tychicus <5190- Tuchikos->, be
diligent <4704-spoudazo-> to come <2064-erchomai-> unto me to
Nicopolis <3533-Nikopolis->: for I have determined <2919- krino->
there <1563-ekei-> to winter <3914-paracheimazo->.

13 Bring <4311-propempo-> Zenas <2211-Zenas-> the lawyer <3544-
nomikos-> and Apollos <0625-Apollos-> on their journey
diligently <4709-spoudaios->, that nothing <3367-medeis- > be
wanting <3007-leipo-> unto them.

14 And let ours <2251-hemeteros-> also <2532-kai-> learn <3129-
manthano-> to maintain <4291-proistemi-> good <2570- kalos->
works <2041-ergon-> for necessary <0316-anagkaios-> uses <5532-
chreia->, that they be not unfruitful <0175-akarpos->.

15 All <3956-pas-> that are with me salute <0782- aspazomai->
thee. Greet <0782-aspazomai-> them that love <5368- phileo-> us
in the faith <4102-pistis->. Grace <5485-charis-> [be] with you
all <3956-pas->. Amen <0281-amen->.
