3 Knowing <1097-ginosko-> [this], that the trying <1383-

4 But let patience <5281-hupomone-> have <2192-echo-> [her]

wavereth <1252-diakrino-> is like <1503-eiko-> a wave <2830-
kludon-> of the sea <2281-thalassa-> driven <0416- anemizo-> with
the wind <0416-anemizo-> and tossed <4494-rhipizo->.

7 For let not that man <0444-anthropos-> think <3633- oiomai->
that he shall receive <2983-lambano-> any <5100-tis-> thing of
the Lord <2962-kurios->.

8 A double <1374-dipsuchos-> minded <1374-dipsuchos-> man <0435-
aner-> [is] unstable <0182-akatastatos-> in all <3956- pas-> his
ways <3598-hodos->.

9 Let the brother <0080-adephos-> of low <5011-tapeinos- >
degree <5011-tapeinos-> rejoice <2744-kauchaomai-> in that he is
exalted <5311-hupsos->:

10 But the rich <4145-plousios->, in that he is made < 5014-
tapeinosis-> low <5014-tapeinosis->: because <3754- hoti-> as the
flower <0438-anthos-> of the grass <5528-chortos-> he shall pass

the crown <4735-stephanos-> of life <2222-zoe->, which <3739-hos-

13. Let no <3367-medeis-> man <3367-medeis-> say < 3004-lego->
when he is tempted <3985-peirazo->, I am tempted <3985- peirazo->
of God <2316-theos->: for God <2316-theos-> cannot <0551-
apeirastos-> be tempted <0551-apeirastos-> with evil < 2556-kakos-

14 But every <1538-hekastos-> man is tempted <3985- peirazo->,
when he is drawn <1828-exelko-> away of his own <2398- idios->
lust <1939-epithumia->, and enticed <1185-deleazo->.

15 Then <1534-eita-> when lust <1939-epithumia-> hath conceived

apokueo-> sin <0266-hamartia->: and sin <0266- hamartia->, when
it is finished <0658-apoteleo->, bringeth <5088-tikto- > forth

16 Do not err <4105-planao->, my beloved <0027-agapetos- >
brethren <0080-adephos->.

17 Every <3956-pas-> good <0018-agathos-> gift < 1394-dosis->
and every <3956-pas-> perfect <5046-teleios-> gift <1394-dosis->
is from above <0509-anothen->, and cometh <2591-Karpos- > down
<2597-katabaino-> from the Father <3962-pater-> of lights <5457-
phos->, with whom <3739-hos-> is no <3756-ou-> variableness

18 Of his own will <1014-boo-lom-ahee-> begat <0616- apokueo->
he us with the word <3056-logos-> of truth <0225- aletheia->,

19. Wherefore <5620-hoste->, my beloved <0027-agapetos- >

anthropos-> be swift <5036-tachus-> to hear <0191- akouo->, slow
<1021-bradus-> to speak <2980-laleo->, slow <1021- bradus-> to

20 For the wrath <3709-orge-> of man <0435-aner-> worketh <2716-
katergazomai-> not the righteousness <1343-dikaiosune-> of God

21 Wherefore <1352-dio-> lay <0659-apotithemi-> apart <0659-

superfluity <4050-perisseia-> of naughtiness <2549-kakia- >, and

23 For if <1487-ei-> any <1536-ei tis-> be a hearer <0202-
akroates-> of the word <3056-logos->, and not a doer < 4163-
poietes->, he is like <1503-eiko-> unto a man <0435- aner->
beholding <2657-katanoeo-> his natural <1083-gennesis- > face

24 For he beholdeth <2657-katanoeo-> himself <1438- heautou->,
and goeth <0565-aperchomai-> his way, and straightway < 2112-

manner <3697-hopoios-> of man he was.

25 But whoso <3588-ho-> looketh <3879-parakupto-> into <1519-
eis-> the perfect <5046-teleios-> law <3551-nomos-> of liberty
<1657-eleutheria->, and continueth <3887-parameno-> [therein],
he being <1096-ginomai-> not a forgetful <1953- epilesmone->

27 Pure <2513-katharos-> religion <2356-threskeia-> and

and the Father <3962-pater-> is this <3778-houtos->, To visit
<1980-episkeptomai-> the fatherless <3737-orphanos-> and widows
<5503-chera-> in their affliction <2347-thlipsis->, [and] to

James 2

1. My brethren <0080-adephos->, have <2192-echo-> not the faith
<4102-pistis-> of our Lord <2962-kurios-> Jesus < 2424-Iesous->
Christ <5547-Christos->, [the Lord] of glory <1391-doxa- >, with
respect <4382-prosopolepsia-> of persons <4382- prosopolepsia->.

2 For if <1437-ean-> there come <1525-eiserchomai-> unto your
<5216-humon-> assembly <4864-sunagoge-> a man < 0435-aner-> with
a gold <5554-chrusodaktulios-> ring <5554- chrusodaktulios->, in

5 Hearken <0191-akouo->, my beloved <0027-agapetos-> brethren

world <2889-kosmos-> rich <4145-plousios-> in faith <4102-pistis-

6 But ye have despised <0818-atimazo-> the poor <4434- ptochos->.
Do not rich <4145-plousios-> men oppress <2616- katadunasteuo->
you, and draw <1670-helkuo-> you before <1519-eis-> the judgment
<2922-kriterion-> seats?

7 Do not they blaspheme <0987-blasphemeo-> that worthy < 2570-
kalos-> name <3686-onoma-> by the which <3588-ho-> ye are called

8. If <1487-ei-> ye fulfil <5055-teleo-> the royal <0937-
basilikos-> law <3551-nomos-> according <2596-kata- > to the
scripture <1124-graphe->, Thou shalt love <0025-agapao- > thy
neighbour <4139-plesion-> as thyself <4572-seautou->, ye do
<4160-poieo-> well <2573-kalos->:

9 But if <1487-ei-> ye have respect <4380-prosopolepteo- > to
persons <4380-prosopolepteo->, ye commit <2038-ergazomai- > sin
<0266-hamartia->, and are convinced <1651-elegcho-> of the law
<3551-nomos-> as transgressors <3848-parabates->.

10 For whosoever <3748-hostis-> shall keep <5083-tereo- > the
whole <3650-holos-> law <3551-nomos->, and yet offend <4417-
ptaio-> in one <1520-heis-> [point], he is guilty < 1777-enochos-
> of all <3956-pas->.

11 For he that said <2036-epo->, Do not commit <3431- moicheuo->
adultery <3431-moicheuo->, said <2036-epo-> also < 2532-kai->, Do
not kill <5407-phoneuo->. Now <1161-de-> if <1487- ei-> thou
commit <3431-moicheuo-> no <3756-ou-> adultery < 3431-moicheuo->,
yet <1161-de-> if thou kill <5407-phoneuo->, thou art become
<1096-ginomai-> a transgressor <3848-parabates-> of the law
<3551-nomos->.

12 So <3779-houto-> speak <2980-laleo-> ye, and so <3779-houto-
> do <4160-poieo->, as they that shall be judged < 2919-krino->
by the law <3551-nomos-> of liberty <1657-eleutheria-> .

13 For he shall have judgment <2920-krisis-> without < 0448-
anileos-> mercy <0448-anileos->, that hath shewed < 4160-poieo->
no <3361-me-> mercy <1656-eleos->; and mercy <1656- eleos->
rejoiceth <2620-katakauchaomai-> against <2620- katakauchaomai->
judgment <2920-krisis->.

14. What <5101-tis-> [doth it] profit <3786-ophelos-> , my
brethren <0080-adephos->, though <1437-ean-> a man <5100-tis->
say <3004-lego-> he hath <2192-echo-> faith <4102- pistis->, and
have <2192-echo-> not works <2041-ergon->? can < 1410-dunamai->
faith <4102-pistis-> save <4982-sozo-> him?

15 If <1437-ean-> a brother <0080-adephos-> or < 2228-e-> sister
<0079-adelphe-> be naked <1131-gumnos->, and destitute <3007-
leipo-> of daily <2184-ephemeros-> food <5160-trophe- >,

16 And one <5100-tis-> of you say <2036-epo-> unto them, Depart
<5217-hupago-> in peace <1515-eirene->, be [ye] warmed <2328-
thermaino-> and filled <5526-chortazo->; notwithstanding ye give
<1325-didomi-> them not those <3588-ho-> things which are
needful <2006-epitedeios-> to the body <4983-soma->; what <5101-
tis-> [doth it] profit <3786-ophelos->?

17 Even <2532-kai-> so <3779-houto-> faith <4102- pistis->, if
<1437-ean-> it hath <2192-echo-> not works <2041- ergon->, is
dead <3498-nekros->, being alone <2596-kata->.

18 Yea <0235-alla->, a man <5100-tis-> may say < 2046-ereo->,
Thou hast <2192-echo-> faith <4102-pistis->, and I have works
<2041-ergon->: shew <1166-deiknuo-> me thy faith < 4102-pistis->
without <5565-choris-> thy works <2041-ergon->, and I will shew
<1166-deiknuo-> thee my faith <4102-pistis-> by my works <2041-
ergon->.

19 Thou believest <4100-pisteuo-> that there is one < 1520-heis-
> God <2316-theos->; thou doest <4160-poieo-> well <2573-kalos->:
the devils <1140-daimonion-> also <2532-kai-> believe <4100-
pisteuo->, and tremble <5425-phrisso->.

20 But wilt <2309-thelo-> thou know <1097-ginosko->, O vain
<2756-kenos-> man <0444-anthropos->, that faith < 4102-pistis->
without <5565-choris-> works <2041-ergon-> is dead <3498-nekros-
>?

21 Was not Abraham <0011-Abraam->our father <3962-pater- >
justified <1344-dikaioo-> by works <2041-ergon->, when he had
offered <0399-anaphero-> Isaac <2464-Isaak-> his son <5207-huios-
> upon the altar <2379-thusiasterion->?

22 Seest <0991-blepo-> thou how <3754-hoti-> faith <4102-pistis-
> wrought <4903-sunergeo-> with his works <2041-ergon- >, and by
works <2041-ergon-> was faith <4102-pistis-> made < 5048-teleioo-

23 And the scripture <1124-graphe-> was fulfilled <4137- pleroo-

25 Likewise <3668-homoios-> also <2532-kai-> was not Rahab

by works <2041-ergon->, when she had received <5264- hupodechomai-
> the messengers <0032-aggelos->, and had sent <1524- eiseimi->

26 For as the body <4983-soma-> without <5565-choris- > the
spirit <4151-pneuma-> is dead <3498-nekros->, so < 3779-houto->

James 3

1. My brethren <0080-adephos->, be not many <4183-polus- >
masters <1320-didaskalos->, knowing <1492-eido-> that we shall
receive <2983-lambano-> the greater <3187-meizon-> condemnation
<2917-krima->.

2 For in many <4183-polus-> things we offend <4417- ptaio-> all
<0537-hapas->. If <1487-ei-> any <1536-ei tis-> man offend <4417-
ptaio-> not in word <3056-logos->, the same <3778- houtos-> [is]
a perfect <5046-teleios-> man <0435-aner->, [and] able <1415-
dunatos-> also <2532-kai-> to bridle <5469-chalinos- > the whole
<3650-holos-> body <4983-soma->.

3 Behold <2400-idou->, we put <0906-ballo-> bits < 5469-chalinos-
> in the horses <2462-hippos->' mouths <4750-stoma- >, that they
may obey <3982-peitho-> us; and we turn <3329-metago-> about
<3329-metago-> their whole <3650-holos-> body < 4983-soma->.

4 Behold <2400-idou-> also <2532-kai-> the ships < 4143-ploion->,
which though [they be] so <5082-telikoutos-> great < 5082-
telikoutos->, and [are] driven <1643-elauno-> of fierce <4642-
skleros-> winds <0417-anemos->, yet are they turned < 3329-metago-
> about <3329-metago-> with a very <1646-elachistos- > small
<1646-elachistos-> helm <4079-pedalion->, whithersoever <0302-an-

5 Even <2532-kai-> so <3779-houto-> the tongue < 1100-glossa->
is a little <3398-mikros-> member <3196-melos->, and boasteth
<3166-megalaucheo-> great <3166-megalaucheo-> things. Behold
<2400-idou->, how <2245-helikos-> great <2245- helikos-> a matter
<5208-hule-> a little <3641-oligos-> fire <4442- pur-> kindleth
<0381-anapto->!

6 And the tongue <1100-glossa-> [is] a fire <4442-pur- >, a
world <2889-kosmos-> of iniquity <0093-adikia->: so <3779-houto-
> is the tongue <1100-glossa-> among <1722-en-> our members
<3196-melos->, that it defileth <4695-spiloo-> the whole <3650-
holos-> body <4983-soma->, and setteth <5394-phlogizo- > on fire

7 For every <3956-pas-> kind <5449-phusis-> of beasts <2342-
therion->, and of birds <4071-peteinon->, and of serpents <2062-
herpeton->, and of things in the sea <1724-enalios->, is tamed
<1150-damazo->, and hath been tamed <1150-damazo-> of mankind

8 But the tongue <1100-glossa-> can <1410-dunamai-> no <3762-
oudeis-> man <0444-anthropos-> tame <1150-damazo->; [it is] an
unruly <0183-akataschetos-> evil <2556-kakos->, full <3324-
mestos-> of deadly <2287-thanatephoros-> poison <2447- ios->.

9 Therewith <0846-autos-> bless <2127-eulogeo-> we God <2316-
theos->, even the Father <3962-pater->; and therewith <0846-
autos-> curse <2672-kataraomai-> we men <0444- anthropos->, which
<3588-ho-> are made <1096-ginomai-> after <2596- kata-> the
similitude <3669-homoiosis-> of God <2316-theos->.

10 Out of the same <0846-autos-> mouth <4750-stoma-> proceedeth
<1831-exerchomai-> blessing <2129-eulogia-> and cursing <2671-
katara->. My brethren <0080-adephos->, these <5023- tauta->
things ought <5534-chre-> not so <3779-houto-> to be.

11 Doth a fountain <4077-pege-> send <1032-bruo-> forth <1032-
bruo-> at <1537-ek-> the same <0846-autos-> place <3692-ope->
sweet <1099-glukus-> [water] and bitter <4089-pikros-> ?

12 Can <1410-dunamai-> the fig <4808-suke-> tree < 4808-suke->,
my brethren <0080-adephos->, bear <4160-poieo-> olive <1636-
elaia-> berries <1636-elaia->? either <2228-e-> a vine <0288-
ampelos->, figs <4810-sukon->? so <3779-houto-> [can] no <3762-
oudeis-> fountain <4077-pege-> both yield <4160-poieo- > salt
<0252-halukos-> water <5204-hudor-> and fresh < 1099-glukus->.

13. Who <5101-tis-> [is] a wise <4680-sophos-- oneidismos-> man
and endued <1990-epistemon-> with knowledge <1990- epistemon->
among <1722-en-> you? let him shew <1166-deiknuo-> out of a good
<2570-kalos-> conversation <0391-anastrophe-> his works <2041-
ergon-> with meekness <4240-prautes-> of wisdom <4678- sophia->.

14 But if <1487-ei-> ye have <2192-echo-> bitter < 4089-pikros->
envying <2205-zelos-> and strife <2052-eritheia-> in your <5216-
humon-> hearts <2588-kardia->, glory <2620- katakauchaomai-> not,
and lie <5574-pseudomai-> not against <2596-kata-> the truth
<0225-aletheia->.

15 This <3778-houtos-> wisdom <4678-sophia-> descendeth <2718-
katerchomai-> not from above <0509-anothen->, but [is] earthly
<1919-epigeios->, sensual <5591-psuchikos->, devilish <1141-
daimoniodes->.

16 For where <3699-hopou-> envying <2205-zelos-> and strife
<2052-eritheia-> [is], there <1563-ekei-> [is] confusion <0181-
akatastasia-> and every <3956-pas-> evil <5337- phaulos-> work
<4229-pragma->.

17 But the wisdom <4678-sophia-> that is from above < 0509-
anothen-> is first <4412-proton-> pure <0053-hagnos- >, then
<1899-epeita-> peaceable <1516-eirenikos->, gentle <1933-
epieikes->, [and] easy <2138-eupeithes-> to be intreated <2138-
eupeithes->, full <3324-mestos-> of mercy <1656-eleos- > and good

> partiality <0087-adiakritos->, and without <0505- anupokritos->

18 And the fruit <2590-karpos-> of righteousness <1343-

them that make <4160-poieo-> peace <1515-eirene->.

James 4

1. From whence <4159-pothen-> [come] wars <4171-polemos- > and
fightings <3163-mache-> among <1722-en-> you? [come they] not
hence <1782-enteuthen->, [even] of your <5216-humon-> lusts
<2237-hedone-> that war <4754-strateuomai-> in your <5216-humon-
> members <3196-melos->?

2 Ye lust <1937-epithumeo->, and have <2192-echo-> not: ye kill
<5407-phoneuo->, and desire <2206-zeloo-> to have < 2192-echo->,
and cannot <1410-dunamai-> obtain <2013-epitugchano->: ye fight
<3164-machomai-> and war <4170-polemeo->, yet < 1161-de-> ye have

3 Ye ask <0154-aiteo->, and receive <2983-lambano-> not,

lusts <2237-hedone->.

14 Whereas <3748-hostis-> ye know <1987-epistamai-> not what

17 Therefore <3767-oun-> to him that knoweth <1492-eido- > to do

James 5

presbuteros-> of the church <1577-ekklesia->; and let them pray
