CHAPTER 1 :1 The Revelation <G 0602> of Jesus <G 2424> Christ <G5547>, which <G 3739> God <G 2316> gave <G 1325> unto him, to shew <G 1166> unto his servants <G 1401> things which <G 3739> must <G 1163> shortly <G 5034> come <G 1096> to pass; and he sent <G 0649> and signified <G 4591> [it] by his angel <G 0032> unto his servant <G 1401> John <G 2491>: :2 Who <G 3739> bare <G 3140> record <G 3140> of the word <G 3056> of God <G 2316>, and of the testimony <G 3141> of Jesus <G 2424> Christ <G 5547>, and of all <G 3745> things that he saw <G 1492>. :3 Blessed <G 3107> [is] he that readeth <G 0314>, and they that hear <G 0191> the words <G 3056> of this <G 3588> prophecy <G 4394>, and keep <G 5083> those <G 3588> things which are written <G 1125> therein <G 0846>: for the time <G 2540> [is] at <G 1451> hand <G 1451>. :4 John <G 2491> to the seven <G 2033> churches <G 1577> which <G 3588> are in Asia <G 0773>: Grace <G 5485> [be] unto you, and peace <G 1515>, from him which <G 3588> is, and which <G 3588> was, and which <G 3588> is to come <G 2064>; and from the seven <G 2033> Spirits <G 4151> which <G 3739> are before <G 1799> his throne <G 2362>; :5 And from Jesus <G 2424> Christ <G 5547>, [who is] the faithful <G 4103> witness <G 3144>, [and] the first <G 4416> begotten <G 4416> of the dead <G 3498>, and the prince <G 0758> of the kings <G 0935> of the earth <G 1093>. Unto him that loved <G 0025> us, and washed <G 3068> us from our sins < G 0266> in his own <G 0848> blood <G 0129>, :6 And hath made <G 4160> us kings <G 0935> and priests <G 2409> unto God <G 2316> and his Father <G 3962>; to him [be] glory <G 1391> and dominion <G 2904> for ever <G 0165> and ever <G 0165>. Amen <G 0281>. :7 Behold <G 2400>, he cometh <G 2064> with clouds <G 3507>; and every <G 3956> eye <G 3788> shall see <G 3700> him, and they [also] which <G 3748> pierced <G 1574> him: and all <G 3956> kindreds <G 5443> of the earth <G 1093> shall wail <G 2875> because <G 1909> of him. Even <G 3483> so <G 3483>, Amen <G 0281>. :8 I am <G 1510> Alpha <G 0001> and Omega <G 5598>, the beginning <G 0746> and the ending <G 5056>, saith < G 3004> the Lord <G 2962>, which <G 3588> is, and which <G 3588> was, and which <G 3588> is to come <G 2064>, the Almighty < G 3841>. :9 I John <G 2491>, who <G 3588> also <G 2532> am your <G 5216> brother <G 0080>, and companion <G 4791> in tribulation <G 2347>, and in the kingdom <G 0932> and patience <G 5281> of Jesus <G 2424> Christ <G 5547>, was in the isle <G 3520> that is called <G 2564> Patmos <G 3963>, for the word <G 3056> of God <G 2316>, and for the testimony <G 3141> of Jesus <G 2424> Christ <G 5547>. :10 I was in the Spirit <G 4151> on <G 1722> the Lord's <G 2960> day <G 2250>, and heard <G 0191> behind <G 3694> me a great <G 3173> voice <G 5456>, as of a trumpet <G 4536>, :11 Saying <G 3004>, I am <G 1510> Alpha <G 0001> and Omega <G 5598>, the first <G 4413> and the last <G 2078>: and, What <G 3739> thou seest <G 0991>, write <G 1125> in a book <G 0975>, and send <G 3992> [it] unto the seven <G 2033> churches <G 1577> which <G 3588> are in Asia <G 0773>; unto Ephesus < G 2181>, and unto Smyrna <G 4667>, and unto Pergamos <G 4010>, and unto Thyatira <G 2363>, and unto Sardis <G 4554>, and unto Philadelphia <G 5359>, and unto Laodicea <G 2993>. :12 And I turned <G 1994> to see <G 0991> the voice <G 5456> that spake <G 2980> with me. And being turned <G 1994> , I saw <G 1492> seven <G 2033> golden <G 5552> candlesticks <G 3087>; :13 And in the midst <G 3319> of the seven <G 2033> candlesticks <G 3087> [one] like <G 3664> unto the Son <G 5207> of man <G 0444>, clothed <G 1746> with a garment <G 4158> down to the foot <G 4158>, and girt <G 4024> about <G 4024> the paps <G 3149> with a golden <G 5552> girdle <G 2223>. :14 His head <G 2776> and [his] hairs <G 2359> [were] white <G 3022> like <G 5616> wool <G 2053>, as white <G 3022> as snow <G 5510>; and his eyes <G 3788> [were] as a flame <G 5395> of fire <G 4442>; :15 And his feet <G 4228> like <G 3664> unto fine brass <G 5474>, as if they burned <G 4448> in a furnace <G 2575>; and his voice <G 5456> as the sound <G 5456> of many <G 4183> waters <G 5204>. :16 And he had <G 2192> in his right <G 1188> hand <G 5495> seven <G 2033> stars <G 0792>: and out of his mouth <G 4750> went <G 1607> a sharp <G 3691> twoedged <G 1366> sword <G 4501>: and his countenance <G 3799> [was] as the sun <G 2246> shineth <G 5316> in his strength <G 1411>. :17 And when <G 3753> I saw <G 1492> him, I fell < G 4098> at <G 4314> his feet <G 4228> as dead <G 3498>. And he laid <G 2007> his right <G 1188> hand <G 5495> upon me, saying < G 3004> unto me, Fear <G 5399> not; I am <G 1510> the first <G 4413> and the last <G 2078>: :18 I [am <G 1510>] he that liveth <G 2198>, and was dead <G 3498>; and, behold <G 2400>, I am <G 1510> alive <G 2198> for evermore <G 0165>, Amen <G 0281>; and have <G 2192> the keys <G 2807> of hell <G 0086> and of death <G 2288>. :19 Write <G 1125> the things which <G 3739> thou hast seen <G 1492>, and the things which <G 3739> are, and the things which <G 3739> shall be hereafter <G 5023>; :20 The mystery <G 3466> of the seven <G 2033> stars <G 0792> which <G 3739> thou sawest <G 1492> in my right <G 1188> hand, and the seven <G 2033> golden <G 5552> candlesticks <G 3087>. The seven <G 2033> stars <G 0792> are the angels < G 0032> of the seven <G 2033> churches <G 1577>: and the seven <G 2033> candlesticks <G 3087> which <G 3739> thou sawest < G 1492> are the seven <G 2033> churches <G 1577>.
