CHAPTER 3 :1 And unto the angel <G 0032> of the church <G 1577>in Sardis <G 4554> write <G 1125>; These <G 3592> things saith <G 3004> he that hath <G 2192> the seven <G 2033> Spirits <G 4151> of God <G 2316>, and the seven <G 2033> stars <G 0792>; I know <G 1492> thy works <G 2041>, that thou hast < G 2192> a name <G 3686> that thou livest <G 2198>, and art <G 1488> dead <G 3498>. :2 Be watchful <G 1127>, and strengthen <G 4741> the things which remain <G 3062>, that are ready <G 3195> to die <G 0599>: for I have not found <G 2147> thy works <G 2041> perfect <G 4137> before <G 1799> God <G 2316>. :3 Remember <G 3421> therefore <G 3767> how <G 4459> thou hast received <G 2983> and heard <G 0191>, and hold <G 5083> fast, and repent <G 3340>. If <G 1437> therefore <G 3767> thou shalt not watch <G 1127>, I will come <G 2240> on <G 1909> thee as a thief <G 2812>, and thou shalt not know <G 1097> what <G 4169> hour <G 5610> I will come <G 2240> upon thee. :4 Thou hast <G 2192> a few <G 3641> names <G 3686> even <G 2532> in Sardis <G 4554> which <G 3739> have not defiled <G 3435> their garments <G 2440>; and they shall walk <G 4043> with me in white <G 3022>: for they are worthy <G 0514>. :5 He that overcometh <G 3528>, the same <G 3778> shall be clothed <G 4016> in white <G 3022> raiment <G 2440>; and I will not blot <G 1813> out his name <G 3686> out of the book <G 0976> of life <G 2222>, but I will confess <G 1843> his name <G 3686> before <G 1799> my Father <G 3962>, and before <G 1799> his angels <G 0032>. :6 He that hath <G 2192> an ear <G 3775>, let him hear <G 0191> what <G 5101> the Spirit <G 4151> saith <G 3004> unto the churches <G 1577>. :7 And to the angel <G 0032> of the church <G 1577> in Philadelphia <G 5359> write <G 1125>; These <G 3592> things saith <G 3004> he that is holy <G 0040>, he that is true <G 0228>, he that hath <G 2192> the key <G 2807> of David <G 1138>, he that openeth <G 0455>, and no <G 3762> man <G 3762> shutteth <G 2808>; and shutteth <G 2808>, and no <G 3762> man <G 3762> openeth <G 0455>; :8 I know <G 1492> thy works <G 2041>: behold <G 2400>, I have set <G 1325> before <G 1799> thee an open <G 0455> door <G 2374>, and no <G 3762> man <G 3762> can <G 1410> shut <G 2808> it: for thou hast <G 2192> a little <G 3398> strength <G 1411>, and hast kept <G 5083> my word <G 3056>, and hast not denied <G 0720> my name <G 3686>. :9 Behold <G 2400>, I will make <G 1325> them of the synagogue <G 4864> of Satan <G 4567>, which <G 3588> say <G 3004> they are Jews <G 2453>, and are not, but do lie <G 5574>; behold <G 2400>, I will make <G 4160> them to come <G 2240> and worship <G 4352> before <G 1799> thy feet <G 4228>, and to know <G 1097> that I have loved <G 0025> thee. :10 Because <G 3754> thou hast kept <G 5083> the word <G 3056> of my patience <G 5281>, I also <G 2504> will keep <G 5083> thee from the hour <G 5610> of temptation <G 3986>, which <G 3588> shall come <G 2064> upon all <G 3650> the world <G 3625>, to try <G 3985> them that dwell <G 2730> upon the earth < G 1093>. :11 Behold <G 2400>, I come <G 2064> quickly <G 5035>: hold <G 2902> that fast which <G 3739> thou hast <G 2192>, that no <G 3367> man <G 3367> take <G 2983> thy crown <G 4735>. :12 Him that overcometh <G 3528> will I make <G 4160> a pillar <G 4769> in the temple <G 3485> of my God <G 2316>, and he shall go <G 1831> no <G 3364> more <G 2089> out: and I will write <G 1125> upon him the name <G 3686> of my God <G 2316> , and the name <G 3686> of the city <G 4172> of my God <G 2316>, [which <G 3588> is] new <G 2537> Jerusalem <G 2419>, which <G 3588> cometh <G 2597> down <G 2597> out of heaven <G 3772> from my God <G 2316>: and [I will write upon him] my new <G 2537> name <G 3686>. :13 He that hath <G 2192> an ear <G 3775>, let him hear <G 0191> what <G 5101> the Spirit <G 4151> saith <G 3004> unto the churches <G 1577>. :14 And unto the angel <G 0032> of the church <G 1577> of the Laodiceans <G 2994> write <G 1125>; These <G 3592> things saith <G 3004> the Amen <G 0281>, the faithful <G 4103> and true <G 0228> witness <G 3144>, the beginning <G 0746> of the creation <G 2937> of God <G 2316>; :15 I know <G 1492> thy works <G 2041>, that thou art <G 1488> neither <G 3777> cold <G 5593> nor <G 3777> hot <G 2200>: I would <G 3785> thou wert <G 1498> cold <G 5593> or <G 2228> hot <G 2200>. :16 So <G 3779> then because <G 3754> thou art <G 1488> lukewarm <G 5513>, and neither <G 3777> cold <G 5593> nor <G 3777> hot <G 2200>, I will <G 3195> spue <G 1692> thee out of my mouth <G 4750>. :17 Because <G 3754> thou sayest <G 3004>, I am <G 1510> rich <G 4145>, and increased <G 4147> with goods <G 4147>, and have <G 2192> need <G 5532> of nothing <G 3762>; and knowest <G 1492> not that thou art <G 1488> wretched <G 5005>, and miserable <G 1652>, and poor <G 4434>, and blind <G 5185>, and naked <G 1131>: :18 I counsel <G 4823> thee to buy <G 0059> of me gold <G 5553> tried <G 4448> in the fire <G 4442>, that thou mayest be rich <G 4147>; and white <G 3022> raiment <G 2440>, that thou mayest be clothed <G 4016>, and [that] the shame <G 0152> of thy nakedness <G 1132> do not appear <G 5319>; and anoint <G 1472> thine <G 4675> eyes <G 3788> with eyesalve <G 2854>, that thou mayest see <G 0991>. :19 As many <G 3745> as I love <G 5368>, I rebuke < G 1651> and chasten <G 3811>: be zealous <G 2206> therefore <G 3767>, and repent <G 3340>. :20 Behold <G 2400>, I stand <G 2476> at <G 1909> the door <G 2374>, and knock <G 2925>: if <G 1437> any <G 5100> man hear <G 0191> my voice <G 5456>, and open <G 0455> the door <G 2374>, I will come <G 1525> in to him, and will sup <G 1172> with him, and he with me. :21 To him that overcometh <G 3528> will I grant <G 1325> to sit <G 2523> with me in my throne <G 2362>, even <G 2504> as I also <G 2504> overcame <G 3528>, and am set <G 2523> down <G 2523> with my Father <G 3962> in his throne <G 2362>. :22 He that hath <G 2192> an ear <G 3775>, let him hear <G 0191> what <G 5101> the Spirit <G 4151> saith <G 3004> unto the churches <G 1577>.
