CHAPTER 17 :1 And there came <G 2064> one <G 1520> of the seven<G 2033> angels <G 0032> which <G 3588> had < G 2192> the seven <G 2033> vials <G 5357>, and talked <G 2980> with me, saying <G 3004> unto me, Come <G 1204> hither <G 1204>; I will shew <G 1166> unto thee the judgment <G 2917> of the great <G 3173> whore <G 4204> that sitteth <G 2521> upon many <G 4183> waters <G 5204>: :2 With whom <G 3739> the kings <G 0935> of the earth <G 1093> have committed <G 4203> fornication <G 4203>, and the inhabitants <G 2730> of the earth <G 1093> have been made <G 3182> drunk <G 3182> with the wine <G 3631> of her fornication <G 4202>. :3 So <G 2532> he carried <G 0667> me away <G 0667> in the spirit <G 4151> into <G 1519> the wilderness <G 2048>: and I saw <G 1492> a woman <G 1135> sit <G 2521> upon a scarlet <G 2847> coloured beast <G 2342>, full <G 1073> of names <G 3686> of blasphemy <G 0988>, having <G 2192> seven <G 2033> heads <G 2776> and ten <G 1176> horns <G 2768>. :4 And the woman <G 1135> was arrayed <G 4016> in purple <G 4209> and scarlet <G 2847> colour, and decked <G 5558> with gold <G 5557> and precious <G 5093> stones <G 3037> and pearls <G 3135>, having <G 2192> a golden <G 5552> cup <G 4221> in her hand <G 5495> full <G 1073> of abominations <G 0946> and filthiness <G 0168> of her fornication <G 4202>: :5 And upon her forehead <G 3359> [was] a name <G 3686> written <G 1125>, MYSTERY <G 3466>, BABYLON <G 0897> THE GREAT <G 3173>, THE MOTHER <G 3384> OF HARLOTS <G 4204> AND ABOMINATIONS <G 0946> OF THE EARTH <G 1093>. :6 And I saw <G 1492> the woman <G 1135> drunken < G 3184> with the blood <G 0129> of the saints <G 0040>, and with the blood <G 0129> of the martyrs <G 3144> of Jesus <G 2424>: and when I saw <G 1492> her, I wondered <G 1839> with great <G 3173> admiration <G 2295>. :7 And the angel <G 0032> said <G 2036> unto me, Wherefore <G 1302> didst thou marvel <G 2296>? I will tell <G 2046> thee the mystery <G 3466> of the woman <G 1135>, and of the beast <G 2342> that carrieth <G 0941> her, which <G 3588> hath <G 2192> the seven <G 2033> heads <G 2776> and ten <G 1176> horns <G 2768>. :8 The beast <G 2342> that thou sawest <G 1492> was, and is not; and shall ascend <G 0305> out of the bottomless <G 0012> pit, and go <G 5217> into <G 1519> perdition <G 0684> : and they that dwell <G 2730> on <G 1909> the earth <G 1093> shall wonder <G 2296>, whose <G 3739> names <G 3686> were not written <G 1125> in the book <G 0976> of life <G 2222> from the foundation <G 2602> of the world <G 2889>, when they behold <G 0991> the beast <G 2342> that was, and is not, and yet <G 2539> is. :9 And here <G 5602> [is] the mind <G 3563> which < G 3588> hath <G 2192> wisdom <G 4678>. The seven <G 2033> heads <G 2776> are seven <G 2033> mountains <G 3735>, on <G 1909> which <G 0846> the woman <G 1135> sitteth <G 2521>. :10 And there are seven <G 2033> kings <G 0935>: five <G 4002> are fallen <G 4098>, and one <G 1520> is, [and] the other <G 0243> is not yet <G 3768> come <G 2064>; and when <G 3752> he cometh <G 2064>, he must <G 1163> continue <G 3306> a short <G 3641> space. :11 And the beast <G 2342> that was, and is not, even <G 2532> he is the eighth <G 3590>, and is of the seven <G 2033>, and goeth <G 5217> into <G 1519> perdition <G 0684>. :12 And the ten <G 1176> horns <G 2768> which <G 3739> thou sawest <G 1492> are ten <G 1176> kings <G 0935>, which <G 3748> have received <G 2983> no <G 3768> kingdom <G 0932> as yet <G 3768>; but receive <G 2983> power <G 1849> as kings <G 0935> one <G 3391> hour <G 5610> with the beast <G 2342>. :13 These <G 3778> have <G 2192> one <G 3391> mind <G 1106>, and shall give <G 1239> their power <G 1411> and strength <G 1849> unto the beast <G 2342>. :14 These <G 3778> shall make <G 4170> war <G 4170> with the Lamb <G 0721>, and the Lamb <G 0721> shall overcome <G 3528> them: for he is Lord <G 2962> of lords <G 2962>, and King <G 0935> of kings <G 0935>: and they that are with him [are] called <G 2822>, and chosen <G 1588>, and faithful <G 4103>. :15 And he saith <G 3004> unto me, The waters <G 5204> which <G 3739> thou sawest <G 1492>, where <G 3757> the whore <G 4204> sitteth <G 2521>, are peoples <G 2992>, and multitudes <G 3793>, and nations <G 1484>, and tongues <G 1100>. :16 And the ten <G 1176> horns <G 2768> which <G 3739> thou sawest <G 1492> upon the beast <G 2342>, these <G 3778> shall hate <G 3404> the whore <G 4204>, and shall make < G 4160> her desolate <G 2049> and naked <G 1131>, and shall eat <G 5315> her flesh <G 4561>, and burn <G 2618> her with fire <G 4442>. :17 For God <G 2316> hath put <G 1325> in their hearts <G 2588> to fulfil <G 4160> his will <G 1106>, and to agree <G 4160>, and give <G 1325> their kingdom <G 0932> unto the beast <G 2342>, until <G 0891> the words <G 4487> of God <G 2316> shall be fulfilled <G 5055>. :18 And the woman <G 1135> which <G 3739> thou sawest <G 1492> is that great <G 3173> city <G 4172>, which <G 3588> reigneth <G 0932> over <G 1909> the kings <G 0935> of the earth <G 1093>.
