In the third <7969 shalowsh > year <8141 shaneh > of the reign <4438 malkuwth > of king <4428 melek > Belshazzar <1113 Belsha>tstsar > a vision <2377 chazown > appeared < 7200 ra>ah > unto me, [even unto] me Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, after <0310 >achar > that which appeared <7200 ra>ah > unto me at the first <8462 t@chillah >. 2 And I saw <7200 ra>ah > in a vision <2377 chazown >; and it came <1961 hayah > to pass, when I saw <7200 ra>ah >, that I [was] at Shushan <7800 Shuwshan > [in] the palace <1002 biyrah >, which <0834 >aher > [is] in the province <4082 m@diynah > of Elam <5867 <Eylam >; and I saw <7200 ra>ah > in a vision <2377 chazown >, and I was by the river <0180 >uwbal > of Ulai <0195 >Uwlay >. 3 Then I lifted <5375 nasa> > up mine eyes <5869 < ayin >, and saw <7200 ra>ah >, and, behold <2009 hinneh >, there stood <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > the river <0180 > uwbal > a ram <0352 >ayil > which had [two] horns <7161 qeren >: and the [two] horns <7161 qeren > [were] high <1364 gaboahh >; but one <0259 >echad > [was] higher <1364 gaboahh > than <4480 min > the other <8145 sheniy >, and the higher <1364 gaboahh > came <5927 <alah > up last <0314 >acharown >. 4 I saw <7200 ra>ah > the ram <0352 >ayil > pushing <5055 nagach > westward <3220 yam >, and northward <6828 tsaphown >, and southward <5045 negeb >; so that no <3808 lo> > beasts <2416 chay > might stand <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > him, neither <0369 >ayin > [was there any] that could deliver <5337 natsal > out of his hand <3027 yad >; but he did < 6213 <asah > according to his will <7522 ratsown >, and became <1431 gadal > great <1431 gadal >. 5 And as I was considering <0995 biyn >, behold <2009 hinneh >, an he goat <5795 <ez > came <0935 bow> > from the west <4628 ma<arab > on the face <6440 paniym > of the whole < 3605 kol > earth <0776 >erets >, and touched <5060 naga< > not the ground <0776 >erets >: and the goat <6842 tsaphiyr > [had] a notable <2380 chazuwth > horn <7161 qeren > between <0996 beyn > his eyes <5869 <ayin >. 6 And he came <0935 bow> > to the ram <0352 >ayil > that had [two] horns <7161 qeren >, which <0834 >aher > I had seen <7200 ra>ah > standing <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > the river <0180 >uwbal >, and ran <7323 ruwts > unto him in the fury <2534 chemah > of his power <3581 koach >. 7 And I saw <7200 ra>ah > him come <5060 naga< > close <0681 >etsel > unto the ram <0352 >ayil >, and he was moved with choler <4843 marar > against <0413 >el > him, and smote <5221 nakah > the ram <0352 >ayil >, and brake <7665 shabar > his two <8147 sh@nayim > horns <7161 qeren >: and there was no <3808 lo> > power <3581 koach > in the ram <0352 >ayil > to stand <5975 <amad > before <6440 paniym > him, but he cast < 7993 shalak > him down to the ground <0776 >erets >, and stamped < 7429 ramac > upon him: and there was none <3808 lo> > that could deliver <5337 natsal > the ram <0352 >ayil > out of his hand <3027 yad >. 8 Therefore the he goat <6842 tsaphiyr > waxed very great <1431 gadal >: and when he was strong <6105 <atsam >, the great <1419 gadowl > horn <7161 qeren > was broken <7665 shabar >; and for it came <5927 <alah > up four <0702 >arba< > notable <2380 chazuwth > ones toward the four <0702 >arba< > winds <7307 ruwach > of heaven <8064 shamayim >. 9 And out of one <0259 >echad > of them came <3318 yatsa> > forth <3318 yatsa> > a little <4704 mitsts@<iyrah > horn <7161 qeren >, which waxed exceeding <3499 yether > great < 1431 gadal >, toward <0413 >el > the south <5045 negeb >, and toward <0413 >el > the east <4217 mizrach >, and toward <0413 >el > the pleasant <6643 ts@biy > [land]. 10 And it waxed great <1431 gadal >, [even] to the host <6635 tsaba> > of heaven <8064 shamayim >; and it cast < 5307 naphal > down <5307 naphal > [some] of the host <6635 tsaba> > and of the stars <3556 kowkab > to the ground <0776 >erets >, and stamped <7429 ramac > upon them. 11 Yea, he magnified <1431 gadal > [himself] even to the prince <8269 sar > of the host <6635 tsaba> >, and by him the daily <8548 tamiyd > [sacrifice] was taken <7311 ruwm > away <7311 ruwm >, and the place <4349 makown > of his sanctuary <4720 miqdash > was cast <7993 shalak > down. 12 And an host <6635 tsaba> > was given <5414 nathan > [him] against <5921 <al > the daily <8548 tamiyd > [sacrifice] by reason of transgression <6588 pesha< >, and it cast < 7993 shalak > down the truth <0571 >emeth > to the ground < 0776 >erets >; and it practised <6213 <asah >, and prospered <6743 tsalach >. 13 Then I heard <8085 shama< > one <0259 >echad > saint <6918 qadowsh > speaking <1696 dabar >, and another <0259 >echad > saint <6918 qadowsh > said <0559 >amar > unto that certain <6422 palmowniy > [saint] which spake <1696 dabar >, How < 5704 <ad > long <5704 <ad > [shall be] the vision <2377 chazown > [concerning] the daily <8548 tamiyd > [sacrifice], and the transgression <6588 pesha< > of desolation <8074 shamem >, to give <5414 nathan > both the sanctuary <6944 qodesh > and the host <6635 tsaba> > to be trodden <4823 mirmac > under foot <4823 mirmac >? 14 And he said <0559 >amar > unto me, Unto two thousand <0505 >eleph > and three <7969 shalowsh > hundred <3967 me>ah > days; then shall the sanctuary <6944 qodesh > be cleansed < 6663 tsadaq >. 15. And it came <1961 hayah > to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l >, had seen <7200 ra>ah > the vision <2377 chazown >, and sought <1245 baqash > for the meaning < 0998 biynah >, then, behold <2009 hinneh >, there stood < 5975 <amad > before <5048 neged > me as the appearance <4758 mar> eh > of a man <1397 geber >. 16 And I heard <8085 shama< > a man's <0120 >adam > voice <6963 qowl > between <0996 beyn > [the banks of] Ulai <0195 >Uwlay >, which called <7121 qara> >, and said <0559 >amar >, Gabriel <1403 Gabriy>el >, make this <1975 hallaz > [man] to understand <0995 biyn > the vision <4758 mar>eh >. 17 So he came <0935 bow> > near <0681 >etsel > where I stood <5977 <omed >: and when he came <0935 bow> >, I was afraid <1204 ba<ath >, and fell <5307 naphal > upon my face < 6440 paniym >: but he said <0559 >amar > unto me, Understand <0995 biyn >, O son <1121 ben > of man <0120 >adam >: for at the time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets > [shall be] the vision <4758 mar>eh >. 18 Now as he was speaking <1696 dabar > with me, I was in a deep <7290 radam > sleep <7290 radam > on <5921 <al > my face <6440 paniym > toward the ground <0776 >erets >: but he touched <5060 naga< > me, and set <5975 <amad > me upright <5977 <omed >. 19 And he said <0559 >amar >, Behold <2005 hen >, I will make thee know <3045 yada< > what shall be in the last < 0319 >achariyth > end of the indignation <2195 za<am >: for at the time appointed <4150 mow<ed > the end <7093 qets > [shall be]. 20 The ram <0352 >ayil > which <0834 >aher > thou sawest <7200 ra>ah > having <1167 ba<al > [two] horns <7161 qeren > [are] the kings <4428 melek > of Media <4074 Maday > and Persia <6539 Parac >. 21 And the rough <8163 sa<iyr > goat <6842 tsaphiyr > [is] the king <4428 melek > of Grecia <3120 Yavan >: and the great <1419 gadowl > horn <7161 qeren > that [is] between <0996 beyn > his eyes <5869 <ayin > [is] the first <7223 ri>shown > king <4428 melek >. 22 Now that being broken <7665 shabar >, whereas four < 0702 >arba< > stood <5975 <amad > up for it, four <0702 >arba< > kingdoms <4438 malkuwth > shall stand <5975 <amad > up out of the nation <1471 gowy >, but not in his power <3581 koach >. 23 And in the latter <0319 >achariyth > time of their kingdom <4438 malkuwth >, when the transgressors <6586 pasha< > are come to the full <8552 tamam >, a king <4428 melek > of fierce <5794 <az > countenance <6440 paniym >, and understanding <0995 biyn > dark <2420 chiydah > sentences <2420 chiydah >, shall stand <5975 <amad > up. 24 And his power <3581 koach > shall be mighty <6105 <atsam >, but not by his own power <3581 koach >: and he shall destroy <7843 shachath > wonderfully <6381 pala> >, and shall prosper <6743 tsalach >, and practise <6213 <asah >, and shall destroy <7843 shachath > the mighty <6099 <atsuwm > and the holy <6918 qadowsh > people <5971 <am >. 25 And through <5921 <al > his policy <7922 sekel > also he shall cause craft <4820 mirmah > to prosper <6743 tsalach > in his hand <3027 yad >; and he shall magnify <1431 gadal > [himself] in his heart <3824 lebab >, and by peace <7962 shalvah > shall destroy <7843 shachath > many <7227 rab >: he shall also stand <5975 <amad > up against <5921 <al > the Prince <8269 sar > of princes <8269 sar >; but he shall be broken < 7665 shabar > without <0657 >ephec > hand <3027 yad >. 26 And the vision <4758 mar>eh > of the evening < 6153 <ereb > and the morning <1242 boqer > which <0834 >aher > was told <0560 >amar > [is] true <0571 >emeth >: wherefore shut <5640 catham > thou up the vision <2377 chazown >; for it [shall be] for many <7227 rab > days <3117 yowm >. 27 And I Daniel <1840 Daniye>l > fainted <1961 hayah >, and was sick <2470 chalah > [certain] days <3117 yowm >; afterward I rose <6965 quwm > up, and did <6213 <asah > the king's <4428 melek > business <4399 m@la>kah >; and I was astonished <8074 shamem > at <5921 <al > the vision <4758 mar>eh >, but none <0369 >ayin > understood <0995 biyn > [it]. |
