Daniel 11

Darius <1867 Dar<yavesh > the Mede <4075 Maday >, [even] I,
stood <5975 <amad > to confirm <2388 chazaq > and to strengthen
<4581 ma<owz > him.

2 And now <6258 <attah > will I shew <5046 nagad > thee the
truth <0571 >emeth >. Behold <2009 hinneh >, there shall stand
<5975 <amad > up yet <5750 <owd > three < 7969 shalowsh > kings
<4428 melek > in Persia <6539 Parac >; and the fourth <7243
r@biy<iy > shall be far <1419 gadowl > richer < 6238 <ashar >
than [they] all <3605 kol >: and by his strength <2394 chozqah >
through his riches <6239 <osher > he shall stir <5782 <uwr > up
all <3605 kol > against the realm <4438 malkuwth > of Grecia
<3120 Yavan >.

3 And a mighty <1368 gibbowr > king <4428 melek > shall stand
<5975 <amad > up, that shall rule <4910 mashal > with great
<7227 rab > dominion <4474 mimshal >, and do <6213 <asah >
according to his will <7522 ratsown >.

4 And when he shall stand <5975 <amad > up, his kingdom <4438
malkuwth > shall be broken <7665 shabar >, and shall be divided
<2673 chatsah > toward the four <0702 >arba< > winds <7307
ruwach > of heaven <8064 shamayim >; and not to his posterity
<0319 >achariyth >, nor <3808 lo> > according to his dominion
<4915 moshel > which <0834 >aher > he ruled < 4910 mashal >: for
his kingdom <4438 malkuwth > shall be plucked <5428 nathash > up,
even for others <0312 >acher > beside <0905 bad > those <0428

5. And the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall
be strong <2388 chazaq >, and [one] of his princes <8269 sar >;
and he shall be strong <2388 chazaq > above <5921 <al > him, and
have dominion <4910 mashal >; his dominion <4474 mimshal >
[shall be] a great <7227 rab > dominion <4474 mimshal >.

6 And in the end <7093 qets > of years <8141 shaneh > they
shall join <2266 chabar > themselves together; for the king's
<4428 melek > daughter <1323 bath > of the south < 5045 negeb >
shall come <0935 bow> > to the king <4428 melek > of the north
<6828 tsaphown > to make <6213 <asah > an agreement <4339
meyshar >: but she shall not retain <6113 <atsar > the power
<3581 koach > of the arm <2220 z@rowa< >; neither <3808 lo> >
shall he stand <5975 <amad >, nor his arm <2220 z@rowa< >: but
she shall be given <5414 nathan > up, and they that brought
<0935 bow> > her, and he that begat <3205 yalad > her, and he
that strengthened <2388 chazaq > her in [these] times < 6256 <eth

7 But out of a branch <5342 netser > of her roots <8328 sheresh
> shall [one] stand <5975 <amad > up in his estate <3653 ken >,
which shall come <0935 bow> > with an army <2428 chayil >, and
shall enter <0935 bow> > into the fortress <4581 ma<owz > of the
king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >, and shall deal
<6213 <asah > against them, and shall prevail <2388 chazaq >:

8 And shall also <1571 gam > carry <0935 bow> > captives <7628
sh@biy > into Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim > their gods < 0430 >elohiym
>, with their princes <5257 n@ciyk >, [and] with their precious
<2532 chemdah > vessels <3627 k@liy > of silver < 3701 keceph >
and of gold <2091 zahab >; and he shall continue <5975 <amad >
[more] years <8141 shaneh > than the king <4428 melek > of the
north <6828 tsaphown >.

9 So the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall
come <0935 bow> > into [his] kingdom <4438 malkuwth >, and shall
return <7725 shuwb > into <0413 >el > his own land <0127 >adamah
>.

10 But his sons <1121 ben > shall be stirred <1624 garah > up,
and shall assemble <0622 >acaph > a multitude <1995 hamown > of
great <7227 rab > forces <2428 chayil >: and [one] shall
certainly come <0935 bow> >, and overflow <7857 shataph >, and
pass <5674 <abar > through: then shall he return < 7725 shuwb >,
and be stirred <1624 garah > up, [even] to his fortress < 4581
ma<owz >.

11 And the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > shall
be moved with choler <4843 marar >, and shall come <3318 yatsa>
> forth <3318 yatsa> > and fight <3898 lacham > with him, [even]
with the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >: and
he shall set <5975 <amad > forth <5975 <amad > a great <7227 rab
> multitude <1995 hamown >; but the multitude <1995 hamown >
shall be given <5414 nathan > into his hand <3027 yad >.

12 [And] when he hath taken <5375 nasa> > away the multitude
<1995 hamown >, his heart <3824 lebab > shall be lifted <7311
ruwm > up; and he shall cast <5307 naphal > down < 5307 naphal >
[many] ten <7239 ribbow > thousands <7239 ribbow >: but he shall
not be strengthened <5810 <azaz > [by it].

13 For the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >
shall return <7725 shuwb >, and shall set <5975 <amad > forth a
multitude <1995 hamown > greater <7227 rab > than < 4480 min >
the former <7223 ri>shown >, and shall certainly come <0935 bow>
> after <7093 qets > certain <6256 <eth > years <8141 shaneh >
with a great <1419 gadowl > army <2428 chayil > and with much
riches <7399 r@kuwsh >.

14 And in those <1992 hem > times <6256 <eth > there shall many
<7227 rab > stand <5975 <amad > up against < 5921 <al > the king
<4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb >: also the robbers <6530
p@riyts > of thy people <5971 <am > shall exalt < 5375 nasa> >
themselves to establish <5975 <amad > the vision < 2377 chazown >;
but they shall fall <3782 kashal >.

15 So the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828 tsaphown >
shall come <0935 bow> >, and cast <8210 shaphak > up a mount
<5550 col@lah >, and take <3920 lakad > the most fenced <4013
mibtsar > cities <5892 <iyr >: and the arms <2220 z@rowa< > of
the south <5045 negeb > shall not withstand <5975 < amad >,
neither <0369 >ayin > his chosen <4005 mibchar > people <5971
<am >, neither <0369 >ayin > [shall there be any] strength <3581
koach > to withstand <5975 <amad >.

16 But he that cometh <0935 bow> > against <0413 > el > him
shall do <6213 <asah > according to his own <7522 ratsown > will
<7522 ratsown >, and none <0369 >ayin > shall stand <5975 <amad
> before <6440 paniym > him: and he shall stand <5975 <amad > in
the glorious <6643 ts@biy > land <0776 >erets >, which by his
hand <3027 yad > shall be consumed <3615 kalah >.

17 He shall also set <7760 suwm > his face <6440 paniym > to
enter <0935 bow> > with the strength <8633 toqeph > of his whole
<3605 kol > kingdom <4438 malkuwth >, and upright < 3477 yashar >
ones with him; thus shall he do <6213 <asah >: and he shall give
<5414 nathan > him the daughter <1323 bath > of women <0802
>ishshah >, corrupting <7843 shachath > her: but she shall not
stand <5975 <amad > [on his side], neither <3808 lo> > be for
him.

18 After this shall he turn <7725 shuwb > his face < 6440 paniym
> unto the isles <0339 >iy >, and shall take <3920 lakad > many
<7227 rab >: but a prince <7101 qatsiyn > for his own behalf
shall cause the reproach <2781 cherpah > offered by him to cease
<7673 shabath >; without <1115 biltiy > his own reproach <2781
cherpah > he shall cause [it] to turn <7725 shuwb > upon him.

19 Then he shall turn <7725 shuwb > his face <6440 paniym >
toward the fort <4581 ma<owz > of his own land <0776 >erets >:
but he shall stumble <3782 kashal > and fall <5307 naphal >, and
not be found <4672 matsa> >.

20 Then shall stand <5975 <amad > up in his estate < 3653 ken >
a raiser <5674 <abar > of taxes <5065 nagas > [in] the glory
<1925 heder > of the kingdom <4438 malkuwth >: but within few
<0259 >echad > days <3117 yowm > he shall be destroyed <7665
shabar >, neither <3808 lo> > in anger <0639 > aph >, nor <3808
lo> > in battle <4421 milchamah >.

21. And in his estate <3653 ken > shall stand <5975 < amad > up
a vile <0959 bazah > person, to whom <5921 <al > they shall not
give <5414 nathan > the honour <1935 howd > of the kingdom <4438
malkuwth >: but he shall come <0935 bow> > in peaceably <7962
shalvah >, and obtain <2388 chazaq > the kingdom < 4438 malkuwth
> by flatteries <2519 chalaqlaqqah >.

22 And with the arms <2220 z@rowa< > of a flood < 7858 sheteph >
shall they be overflown <7857 shataph > from before < 6440 paniym
> him, and shall be broken <7665 shabar >; yea <1571 gam >, also
<1571 gam > the prince <5057 nagiyd > of the covenant <1285
b@riyth >.

23 And after the league <2266 chabar > [made] with him he shall
work <6213 <asah > deceitfully <4820 mirmah >: for he shall come
<5927 <alah > up, and shall become <6105 <atsam > strong <6105
<atsam > with a small <4592 m@<at > people < 1471 gowy >.

24 He shall enter <0935 bow> > peaceably <7962 shalvah > even
upon the fattest <4924 mashman > places of the province < 4082
m@diynah >; and he shall do <6213 <asah > [that] which <0834
>aher > his fathers <1> have not done <6213 < asah >, nor his
fathers <1>' fathers <1>; he shall scatter <0967 bazar > among
them the prey <0961 bizzah >, and spoil <7998 shalal > , and
riches <7399 r@kuwsh >: [yea], and he shall forecast < 2803
chashab > his devices <4284 machashabah > against < 5921 <al >
the strong <4013 mibtsar > holds <4013 mibtsar >, even for a
time <6256 <eth >.

25 And he shall stir <5782 <uwr > up his power <3581 koach >
and his courage <3824 lebab > against <5921 <al > the king <4428
melek > of the south <5045 negeb > with a great <1419 gadowl >
army <2428 chayil >; and the king <4428 melek > of the south
<5045 negeb > shall be stirred <1624 garah > up to battle <4421
milchamah > with a very great <1419 gadowl > and mighty <6099
<atsuwm > army <2428 chayil >; but he shall not stand <5975
<amad >: for they shall forecast <2803 chashab > devices <4284
machashabah > against <5921 <al > him.

26 Yea, they that feed <0398 >akal > of the portion < 6598
pathbag > of his meat <6598 pathbag > shall destroy < 7665 shabar
> him, and his army <2428 chayil > shall overflow < 7857 shataph
>: and many <7227 rab > shall fall <5307 naphal > down slain
<2491 chalal >.

27 And both <8147 sh@nayim > these kings <4428 melek >' hearts
<3824 lebab > [shall be] to do mischief <4827 mera< >, and they
shall speak <1696 dabar > lies <3576 kazab > at < 5921 <al > one
<0259 >echad > table <7979 shulchan >; but it shall not prosper
<6743 tsalach >: for yet <5750 <owd > the end < 7093 qets >
[shall be] at the time appointed <4150 mow<ed >.

28 Then shall he return <7725 shuwb > into his land < 0776
>erets > with great <1419 gadowl > riches <7399 r@kuwsh >; and
his heart <3824 lebab > [shall be] against <5921 <al > the holy
<6944 qodesh > covenant <1285 b@riyth >; and he shall do <6213
<asah > [exploits], and return <7725 shuwb > to his own land
<0776 >erets >.

29 At the time appointed <4150 mow<ed > he shall return <7725
shuwb >, and come <0935 bow> > toward the south < 5045 negeb >;
but it shall not be as the former <7223 ri>shown >, or as the
latter <0314 >acharown >.

30 For the ships <6716 tsiy > of Chittim <3794 Kittiy > shall
come <0935 bow> > against him: therefore he shall be grieved
<3512 ka>ah >, and return <7725 shuwb >, and have indignation
<2194 za<am > against <5921 <al > the holy < 6944 qodesh >
covenant <1285 b@riyth >: so shall he do <6213 <asah >; he shall
even return <7725 shuwb >, and have intelligence <0995 biyn >
with them that forsake <5800 <azab > the holy <6944 qodesh >
covenant <1285 b@riyth >.

31 And arms <2220 z@rowa< > shall stand <5975 < amad > on his
part <2506 cheleq >, and they shall pollute <2490 chalal > the
sanctuary <4720 miqdash > of strength <4581 ma<owz >, and shall
take <5493 cuwr > away <5493 cuwr > the daily < 8548 tamiyd >
[sacrifice], and they shall place <5414 nathan > the abomination
<8251 shiqquwts > that maketh desolate <8074 shamem >.

32 And such as do wickedly <7561 rasha< > against the covenant
<1285 b@riyth > shall he corrupt <2610 chaneph > by flatteries
<2514 chalaqqah >: but the people <5971 <am > that do know <3045
yada< > their God <0430 >elohiym > shall be strong <2388 chazaq
>, and do <6213 <asah > [exploits].

33 And they that understand <7919 sakal > among the people
<5971 <am > shall instruct <0995 biyn > many < 7227 rab >: yet
they shall fall <3782 kashal > by the sword <2719 chereb >, and
by flame <3852 lehabah >, by captivity <7628 sh@biy >, and by
spoil <0961 bizzah >, [many] days <3117 yowm >.

34 Now when they shall fall <3782 kashal >, they shall be
holpen <5826 <azar > with a little <4592 m@<at > help <5828
<ezer >: but many <7227 rab > shall cleave <3867 lavah > to them
with flatteries <2519 chalaqlaqqah >.

35 And [some] of them of understanding <7919 sakal > shall fall
<3782 kashal >, to try <6884 tsaraph > them, and to purge <1305
barar >, and to make [them] white <3835 laban >, [even] to the
time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets >: because [it is] yet
<5750 <owd > for a time appointed <4150 mow<ed > .

36 And the king <4428 melek > shall do <6213 <asah > according
to his will <7522 ratsown >; and he shall exalt <7311 ruwm >
himself, and magnify <1431 gadal > himself above <5921 <al >
every <3605 kol > god <0410 >el >, and shall speak <1696 dabar >
marvellous <6381 pala> > things against <5921 <al > the God
<0410 >el > of gods <0410 >el >, and shall prosper <6743 tsalach
> till <5704 <ad > the indignation <2195 za<am > be accomplished
<3615 kalah >: for that that is determined <2782 charats > shall
be done <6213 <asah >.

37 Neither <3808 lo> > shall he regard <0995 biyn > the God
<0430 >elohiym > of his fathers <1>, nor the desire <2532
chemdah > of women <0802 >ishshah >, nor <3808 lo> > regard
<0995 biyn > any <3605 kol > god <0433 >elowahh >: for he shall
magnify <1431 gadal > himself above <5921 <al > all <3605 kol >.

38 But in his estate <3653 ken > shall he honour <3513 kabad >
the God <0433 >elowahh > of forces <4581 ma<owz >: and a god
<0433 >elowahh > whom <0834 >aher > his fathers <1> knew <3045
yada< > not shall he honour <3513 kabad > with gold <2091 zahab
>, and silver <3701 keceph >, and with precious <3368 yaqar >
stones <68>, and pleasant <2530 chamad > things.

39 Thus shall he do <6213 <asah > in the most <4581 ma<owz >
strong <4581 ma<owz > holds <4013 mibtsar > with a strange <5236
nekar > god <0433 >elowahh >, whom <0834 >aher > he shall
acknowledge <5234 nakar > [and] increase <7235 rabah > with
glory <3519 kabowd >: and he shall cause them to rule < 4910
mashal > over many <7227 rab >, and shall divide < 2505 chalaq >
the land <0127 >adamah > for gain <4242 m@chiyr >.

40 And at the time <6256 <eth > of the end <7093 qets > shall
the king <4428 melek > of the south <5045 negeb > push <5055
nagach > at him: and the king <4428 melek > of the north <6828
tsaphown > shall come <8175 sa<ar > against <5921 <al > him like
a whirlwind <8175 sa<ar >, with chariots <7393 rekeb >, and with
horsemen <6571 parash >, and with many <7227 rab > ships <0591
>oniyah >; and he shall enter <0935 bow> > into the countries
<0776 >erets >, and shall overflow <7857 shataph > and pass
<5674 <abar > over <5674 <abar >.

41 He shall enter <0935 bow> > also into the glorious <6643
ts@biy > land <0776 >erets >, and many <7227 rab > [countries]
shall be overthrown <3782 kashal >: but these <0428 > el-leh >
shall escape <4422 malat > out of his hand <3027 yad > , [even]
Edom <0123 >Edom >, and Moab <4124 Mow>ab >, and the chief <7225
re>shiyth > of the children <1121 ben > of Ammon < 5983 <Ammown >.

42 He shall stretch <7971 shalach > forth his hand < 3027 yad >
also upon the countries <0776 >erets >: and the land < 0776
>erets > of Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim > shall not escape <6413
p@leytah >.

43 But he shall have power <4910 mashal > over the treasures
<4362 mikman > of gold <2091 zahab > and of silver <3701 keceph
>, and over all <3605 kol > the precious <2530 chamad > things
of Egypt <4714 Mitsrayim >: and the Libyans <3864 Luwbiy > and
the Ethiopians <3569 Kuwshiy > [shall be] at his steps < 4703

44 But tidings <8052 sh@muw<ah > out of the east < 4217 mizrach
> and out of the north <6828 tsaphown > shall trouble <0926
bahal > him: therefore he shall go <3318 yatsa> > forth <3318
yatsa> > with great <1419 gadowl > fury <2534 chemah > to
destroy <8045 shamad >, and utterly to make away <2763 charam >
many <7227 rab >.

45 And he shall plant <5193 nata< > the tabernacles < 0168 >ohel
> of his palace <0643 >appeden > between <0996 beyn > the seas
<3220 yam > in the glorious <6643 ts@biy > holy < 6944 qodesh >
mountain <2022 har >; yet he shall come <0935 bow> > to his end
<7093 qets >, and none <0369 >ayin > shall help <5826 <azar >
him.
