3 His substance <4735 miqneh > also was seven <7651 sheba< >
thousand <0505 >eleph > sheep <6629 tso>n >, and three <7969
shalowsh > thousand <0505 >eleph > camels <1581 gamal >, and

<5362 naqaph >, that Job <0347 >Iyowb > sent < 7971 shalach > and
sanctified <6942 qadash > them, and rose <7925 shakam > up early
<7925 shakam > in the morning <1242 boqer >, and offered <5927
<alah > burnt <5930 <olah > offerings [according] to the number
<4557 micpar > of them all <3605 kol >: for Job < 0347 >Iyowb >
said <0559 >amar >, It may <0194 >uwlay > be that my sons <1121
ben > have sinned <2398 chata> >, and cursed <1288 barak > God
<0430 >elohiym > in their hearts <3824 lebab >. Thus <3602 kakah

6. Now there was a day <3117 yowm > when the sons <1121 ben >
of God <0430 >elohiym > came <0935 bow> > to present <3320
yatsab > themselves before <5921 <al > the LORD < 3068 Y@hovah >,
and Satan <7854 satan > came <0935 bow> > also < 1571 gam > among

7 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, Whence <0370 >aiyn > comest < 0935 bow> > thou?
Then Satan <7854 satan > answered <6030 <anah > the LORD <3068
Y@hovah >, and said <0559 >amar >, From going < 7751 shuwt > to
and fro <7751 shuwt > in the earth <0776 >erets >, and from
walking <1980 halak > up and down in it.



8 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, Hast thou considered my servant <5650 < ebed > Job

k@mow > him in the earth <0776 >erets >, a perfect <8535 tam >

9 Then Satan <7854 satan > answered <6030 <anah > the LORD

kol > that he hath, and he will curse <1288 barak > thee to thy

12 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, Behold <2009 hinneh >, all <3605 kol > that he
hath [is] in thy power <3027 yad >; only <3535 kibsah > upon
himself put <7971 shalach > not forth <7971 shalach > thine hand
<3027 yad >. So Satan <7854 satan > went <3318 yatsa> > forth
<3318 yatsa> > from the presence <6440 paniym > of the LORD

13. And there was a day <3117 yowm > when his sons < 1121 ben >
and his daughters <1121 ben > [were] eating <0398 > akal > and
drinking <8354 shathah > wine <3196 yayin > in their eldest

14 And there came <0935 bow> > a messenger <4397 mal>ak > unto
Job <0347 >Iyowb >, and said <0559 >amar >, The oxen <1241 baqar
> were plowing <2790 charash >, and the asses <0860 >athown >
feeding <7462 ra<ah > beside them:



15 And the Sabeans <7614 Sh@ba> > fell <5307 naphal > [upon
them], and took <3947 laqach > them away; yea, they have slain
<5221 nakah > the servants <5288 na<ar > with the edge <6310 peh
> of the sword <2719 chereb >; and I only <7535 raq > am escaped

16 While he [was] yet speaking <1696 dabar >, there came <0935

> from heaven <8064 shamayim >, and hath burned <1197 ba<ar > up

18 While he [was] yet speaking <1696 dabar >, there came <0935

19 And, behold <2009 hinneh >, there came <0935 bow> > a great

corners <6438 pinnah > of the house <1004 bayith >, and it fell
<5307 naphal > upon the young <5288 na<ar > men, and they are
dead <4191 muwth >; and I only <7535 raq > am escaped <4422

20. Then Job <0347 >Iyowb > arose <6965 quwm >, and rent <7167
qara< > his mantle <4598 m@<iyl >, and shaved < 1494 gazaz > his
head <7218 ro>sh >, and fell <5307 naphal > down upon the ground
<0776 >erets >, and worshipped <7812 shachah >,



21 And said <0559 >amar >, Naked <6174 <arowm > came <3318
yatsa> > I out of my mother's <0517 >em > womb < 0990 beten >,
and naked <6174 <arowm > shall I return <7725 shuwb > thither
<8033 sham >: the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > gave <5414 nathan >, and
the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > hath taken <3947 laqach > away; blessed
<1288 barak > be the name <8034 shem > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah

sinned <2398 chata> > not, nor <3808 lo> > charged <5414 nathan
> God <0430 >elohiym > foolishly <8604 tiphlah > .



Job 2



1. Again there was a day <3117 yowm > when the sons < 1121 ben >
of God <0430 >elohiym > came <0935 bow> > to present <3320
yatsab > themselves before <5921 <al > the LORD < 3068 Y@hovah >,
and Satan <7854 satan > came <0935 bow> > also < 1571 gam > among
<8432 tavek > them to present <3320 yatsab > himself before
<6440 paniym > the LORD <3068 Y@hovah >.



2 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, From whence comest <0935 bow> > thou? And Satan
<7854 satan > answered <6030 <anah > the LORD < 3068 Y@hovah >,
and said <0559 >amar >, From going <7751 shuwt > to and fro
<7751 shuwt > in the earth <0776 >erets >, and from walking
<1980 halak > up and down in it.



3 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, Hast thou considered my servant <5650 < ebed > Job
<0347 >Iyowb >, that [there is] none <0369 >ayin > like <3644
k@mow > him in the earth <0776 >erets >, a perfect <8535 tam >
and an upright <3477 yashar > man <0376 >iysh >, one that
feareth <3373 yare> > God <0430 >elohiym >, and escheweth <5493

Y@hovah >, and said <0559 >amar >, Skin <5785 < owr > for skin

will he give <5414 nathan > for his life <5315 nephesh >.



5 But put <7971 shalach > forth <7971 shalach > thine hand

<1288 barak > thee to thy face <6440 paniym >.



6 And the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > said <0559 >amar > unto Satan
<7854 satan >, Behold <2009 hinneh >, he [is] in thine hand

7. So went <3318 yatsa> > Satan <7854 satan > forth <3318
yatsa> > from the presence <6440 paniym > of the LORD <3068
Y@hovah >, and smote <5221 nakah > Job <0347 > Iyowb > with sore
<7451 ra< > boils <7822 sh@chiyn > from the sole <3709 kaph > of
his foot <7272 regel > unto his crown <6936 qodqod >.



8 And he took <3947 laqach > him a potsherd <2789 cheres > to
scrape <1623 garad > himself withal; and he sat <3427 yashab >
down among <8432 tavek > the ashes <0665 >epher >.



9 Then said <0559 >amar > his wife <0802 >ishshah > unto him,
Dost thou still <5750 <owd > retain <2388 chazaq > thine
integrity <8538 tummah >? curse <1288 barak > God < 0430 >elohiym
>, and die <4191 muwth >.



10 But he said <0559 >amar > unto her, Thou speakest <1696
dabar > as one <0259 >echad > of the foolish <5039 n@balah >
women speaketh <1696 dabar >. What <1571 gam >? shall we receive

this <2063 zo>th > evil <7451 ra< > that was come <0935 bow> >
upon him, they came <0935 bow> > every <0376 >iysh > one <0376
>iysh > from his own place <4725 maqowm >; Eliphaz <0464
>Eliyphaz > the Temanite <8489 Teymaniy >, and Bildad <1085
Bildad > the Shuhite <7747 Shuchiy >, and Zophar < 6691 Tsowphar

spake <1696 dabar > a word <1697 dabar > unto him: for they saw
<7200 ra>ah > that [his] grief <3511 k@>eb > was very <3966

Job 3

Job <0347 >Iyowb > his mouth <6310 peh >, and cursed <7043 qalal
> his day <3117 yowm >.



2 And Job <0347 >Iyowb > spake <6030 <anah >, and said <0559
>amar >,



3 Let the day <3117 yowm > perish <6> wherein I was born <3205
yalad >, and the night <3915 layil > [in which] it was said
<0559 >amar >, There is a man <1397 geber > child conceived
<2030 hareh >.



4 Let that day <3117 yowm > be darkness <2822 choshek >; let
not God <0433 >elowahh > regard <1875 darash > it from above
<4605 ma<al >, neither <0408 >al > let the light <5105 n@harah >
shine <3313 yapha< > upon it.



5 Let darkness <2822 choshek > and the shadow <6757 tsalmaveth
> of death <6757 tsalmaveth > stain <1350 ga>al > it; let a
cloud <6053 <ananah > dwell <7931 shakan > upon it; let the

9 Let the stars <3556 kowkab > of the twilight <5399 nesheph >

11. Why <4100 mah > died <4191 muwth > I not from the womb

12 Why <4069 madduwa< > did the knees <1290 berek > prevent

14 With kings <4428 melek > and counsellors <3289 ya< ats > of
the earth <0776 >erets >, which built <1129 banah > desolate

20. Wherefore <4100 mah > is light <0216 >owr > given <5414
nathan > to him that is in misery <6001 <amel >, and life <2416
chay > unto the bitter <4751 mar > [in] soul <5315 nephesh >;



21 Which long <2442 chakah > for death <4194 maveth > , but it
[cometh] not; and dig <2658 chaphar > for it more than for hid

22 Which rejoice <8055 samach > exceedingly, [and] are glad

Job 4



1. Then Eliphaz <0464 >Eliyphaz > the Temanite <8489 Teymaniy >
answered <6030 <anah > and said <0559 >amar >,



2 [If] we assay <5254 nacah > to commune <1697 dabar > with
thee, wilt thou be grieved <3811 la>ah >? but who < 4310 miy >
can <3201 yakol > withhold <6113 <atsar > himself from speaking
<4405 millah >?



3 Behold <2009 hinneh >, thou hast instructed <3256 yacar >
many <7227 rab >, and thou hast strengthened <2388 chazaq > the
weak <7504 rapheh > hands <3027 yad >.



4 Thy words <4405 millah > have upholden <6965 quwm > him that
was falling <3782 kashal >, and thou hast strengthened < 0553
>amats > the feeble <3766 kara< > knees <1290 berek >.



5 But now <6258 <attah > it is come <0935 bow> > upon thee, and
thou faintest <3811 la>ah >; it toucheth <5060 naga< > thee, and
thou art troubled <0926 bahal >.



6 [Is] not [this] thy fear <3374 yir>ah >, thy confidence <3690
kiclah >, thy hope <8615 tiqvah >, and the uprightness <8537 tom

7. Remember <2142 zakar >, I pray <4994 na> > thee, who <4310

9 By the blast <5397 n@shamah > of God <0433 > elowahh > they
perish <6>, and by the breath <7307 ruwach > of his nostrils

10 The roaring <7581 sh@agah > of the lion <0738 > ariy >, and
the voice <6963 qowl > of the fierce <7826 shachal > lion <7826
shachal >, and the teeth <8127 shen > of the young < 3715 k@phiyr
> lions <3715 k@phiyr >, are broken <5421 natha< >.



11 The old lion <3918 layish > perisheth <6> for lack <1097
b@liy > of prey <2964 tereph >, and the stout lion's < 3833
labiy> > whelps <1121 ben > are scattered <6504 parad > abroad

12. Now a thing <1697 dabar > was secretly <1589 ganab >

he charged <7760 suwm > with folly <8417 toholah >:
